I'm listening to the ZX2 right now and can't wait to get the DP-X1. To me music/music gear...headphones, DAP/DAC's etc. is like food. You have a general idea of what you like and you're always trying something new because that's what living is about,...a series of experiences. 

I hope you do get the opportunity, if it was possible we could do a DAP exchange! I would love to get my hands on the ZX2 which was the DAP I most wanted, and almost bought new on a few occasions until the Onkyo was available, and even now I still feel confident I would really love the ZX2.

Here's nice read about the DP-X1, ZX2 and the AK240, 380 they're relative differences. It's a short read but sums up the differences well.
 
I had a chance to listen to the DP-X1 and it's a keeper. You couldn't go wrong adding the ZX2 to your collection on a blind buy either.

Sorry this took so long. But I have written how the AK240 and ZX2 sounds in comparison to other players here.

Also, to add, I find the DP-X1 better than the AK240. More body more accurate in terms of tonality, placement and staging.
Also the DP-X1 to me sounds better than the ZX2. more accurate balanced and more transparency than the ZX2, where the ZX2 is more smoky and its presentation and instrument placement is not as accurate as the DP-X1.
The Onkyo is actually really a stunner. You won't be disappointed

Thanks for the link. Yes, when the ZX2 comes down used to about $500 I'll grab one. Not because I think it isn't subjectively worth more, I just can't justify having two DAPs really so going more than that would be crazy. Maybe it won't ever go that low, who knows. Yes the DP-X1 is a keeper. I'm listening to Tidal, playing Infected Mushrooms and even streaming 320AAC sounds amazing.
