Yes it does show Firmware mod by MrWalkman, I used your firmware and now wanted to install the latest you made off the A50

It is a NW-A45

Ok, I'm sorry, but what did I say here:
Nothing can be installed (except the external tuning from the second step of the installation process, or the StockRevert package) if you don't revert to the stock firmware first, as instructed there.

There is all sorts of info on each firmware's page, such as how to revert back to the stock firmware:

Was just taking a stroll around head-fi (I belong to a different thread group) until I chanced upon this walkman-related thread and @MrWalkman. I read everything that was being said and done here and it piqued my curiosity. So I dusted off my oft-ignored A-45 and gave the A40 FEv2 a go! Well waddyaknow? Got it and installed it in one go without any hassle. So now I'm giving it a spin and enjoying the Plus so far.

A question: I transferred the .exe and firmware update tool in the WM's internal memory for proper installation. Now that I've successfully installed it, should it stay in the internal memory or should I delete it?

Thank you very much. I'll send a few beers when budget allows.

Hi again. I have another concern re BT receiver. I can't seem to pair it with my mobile phone (where my streaming apps are). I've tried adding audio device but it won't read each other's BT. The A45s BT Receiver is grayed out. Any tips on how to go about this? Thanks again

Hey, could you please post a screenshot of the BT Receiver being greyed out?

Everything works fine on my A45.

Here you go @MrWalkman. With the bluetooth on as you can see.

It doesn't work that way.

From the main screen you have to tap on the BT Receiver function icon.

After that, you will have a "Add Device (Pairing)" option.

When you go into settings, you see that option greyed out because you have no device already paired. In that menu you can only see paired devices and delete them, but you can only pair additional devices in the BT Receiver screen.

For example, I can access that menu, as I already paired two devices to my A40. As you can see, I can't add more devices from this menu. I can only delete the existing ones, or check some info.

After you'll pair up your smartphone, for example, you can then initiate the connection from the smartphone.

If you'll be in the BT Receiver screen and you'll then enable BT on your smartphone, the connection is usually created automatically.

And because @MrWalkman is a very patient and understanding teacher and I'm the type of student who will never give up and disappoint20210209_231145.jpgIMG20210209231651.jpgIMG20210209231720.jpgCheers @MrWalkman! Here's one happy (and enlightened) dude. Thank you!!!

I updated the A40 modified firmware versions, to fix the issue where some A40 owners wouldn't have any sound output, so you can just download them again and install them.

Let me know if all is ok afterwards in regards to the sound.

Please note that after installing either one of these three firmware versions (DMP-A40 FEv2 / Project Z / A50 stock port for A40) the settings may be reset, and the data in the internal storage may be deleted.

Will PM you tomorrow probably.
Here's me rooting for the A30 version :)
Me as well! 👍🏻

Will there be a difference in the volume level between headphone out to an amp and line out to an amp with a45?
Yes there is a difference. The line out for the a40 is pretty weak, so most probably your amp will need to be on high gain mode.
