i thought its the other way around...

outer feels metalic
inner housing definitely feels plastic

I mean the cups are coated both way(outside and inside) with plastic. Outer faceplate is metal though.

Hmm. CK100 and UE900 are more of a mid-high tier than mid tier to me. Anyways, compared to them, V6 doesn't really stand. V6 has slightly better clarity, but it comes with less detail and smoothness. They lack bass when compared to M50 and HD25(Though modding a V6 improves the bass drastically. Better than both M50 and HD25).

They lack bit of lower mids, so unless you EQ them, they will sound hallow. But with modding and EQ, they sound magically good for it's price. If you need the link to modding, I can give it to you.

I see. Thanks for the reply kimvictor. Since they are just being discontinued I might just get them.

Btw I just saw your review on the V6 and other headphones. From the review it seems that the V6 is on par with the M50's. They also seem to have a similar sound sig as well. It seems they are very good for the price.

They(unmodded) lack a bit of bass when compared to M50. But once modded, its bass is so much better than M50's bass. But they are great for a price of $70.

whoa guys

not only is V6 discontinued... it's NO LONGER AVAILABLE according to Sony!

Looks like the professional 7506 will cover the void left by V6 in the Sony consumer channel

The V6 has been discontinued before ...

And I think it will be for real this time because SONY corp is looking for ways to slow down the bleeding of cash.
Honestly, I think Sony has way too much product models that overlap and they are slow at streamlining.

If the current argument and wisdom online is that V6 = 7506,  ZX700 = 7510, and Z1000 = 7520 then it only gives them more power to discontinue models.

Checked with Amazon, they're still available for ~$89.
Must be end of life pricing due to their popularity.
Checked Amazon pricing on the 7506 - currently selling for ~$78. Ha! Less than the lowly V6.

I bought my V6 in 2011 on Amazon in an after Christmas sale for $40.
Best deal ever! Love these cheapos, they be my best beater cans.

Mildly modded, Beyer velour pads, short custom straight cable and lost the red "DIGITAL" stickers.
I'll never sell them, they are my po-man Qualias. LOL!

Can someone please compare the 7506 to the Beyer DT 250 (which is also a studio workhorse).
Signature, separation, clarity, etc. but also soundstage/imaging since the DT 250 has a great soundstage/imaging for a closed can (for example, the excellent sounding Senn HD 25 gives me claustrophobia in direct comparison with the DT 250).
Thanks.

I'm seriously considering snapping up a pair of these before they're all permanently gone. Also because they seem like a cool pair of cans to have generally.
