I updated my post. Sources say no at this point. Once they are gone, they are done. Now this doesn't mean Sony doesnt have something coming. They are infamous about their communication.
The M7, M9 and IER-Z1R are not the perfect IEM for everyone but props to Sony for designing monitors that remains in the conversation after all these years. Yes Sony are an international conglomerate trying to sell you lots of different things, but the Walkman team at the least have been relatively restrained in not releasing new models every year
- P.S. just to clarify, I do not at all begrudge anyone buying whatever they want with their money

Tighter bass, moar~ sub-bass rumble. Liking it so far, and really helps hold the weight of the Z1Rs up by looping them across my spectacle legs as I always do.

No, they are completely different in the mids, the mids on the M9 are closer to your face with bigger image, more impactful and detailed. On the other hand, the mids on the Z1R are pushed back behind the bass and treble, they sound distant, thin and recessed. With that said, it depends on the listeners' taste, despite the more subdued mids, it could be considered as a feature that helps the soundstage of the Z1R sound grander and deeper instead of a more intimate presentation of the M9.
