A new cable is $150. One of the cheapest high end replacements in the hobby.I will keep the standard cable plugged in and use the rotting earhooks until the cable literally cuts in half. I don't care. Not teasing the MMCX reaper here this Z1R gets buried with me.

Is it really that hard to get the stock cables ? I see a lot of websites that sell genuine Sony parts and I get my tips from one of them. Cables are always in stock and fairly affordable too.

My primary reason for getting the Dunu Blanche is the swappable tips. I do like how it goes round the ears a bit better than the stock and also feel the sound is a little better/different. That said the stock cable is really good, easily the best stock cable on anything I’ve ever ownedIt's not, but some people think third party alternatives are 'better'

Have anyone tried questyle m15 with ier z1r?
I have, and I like the synergy. It is truly one of the best "dongles" I have heard with most of the gear I have. The sound with the Z1R is full and rich. If you are listening to :thin" sounding music it will come off that way. This morning I was listening to the Z1R/M15 and Tool Fear Inoculum and it was vivid, rich and full sounding. After seeing your post I switched poles and listened to Acoustic Alchemy and The Rippingtons. To my ears not anything wrong with this pairing. For reference ex111 tips.Have anyone tried questyle m15 with ier z1r?

I have both and love both but the MDR has been packed down as I was almost exclusively using the IER, both with the Tazzy. I originally got the IER for travel use (not commuting) to go with the 1Z dap, but since start of covid I’ve been travelling very little so the IER started getting more and more home use.Can anyone tell how much is the difference between ier z1r vs mdr z1r or other full sized similar priced headphones?

Impossible to say objectively as they are both great if one gets on with the Sony sound (though they are not identical in sound), some prefer the one and others prefer the other but personally if I could only own one it would be the IERWhich one is better in sound?

I tried the MDR-Z1R when in Seoul last year, it is a very good headphone, however, the bass that come from the MDR isn't as special as in IER version. I didn't bring my IER-Z1R that time since I brought my Mest on the trip but I "remember" correctly how the IER-Z1R sound because they are my daily driver. I have the MDR-1Am2 (full size headphone) and was expecting significant improvement with MDR-Z1R, and to be honest while they are very good, refine and details from bass to treble extension, the MDR-Z1R didn't wow me at all and definitely don't worth multiple times the price of my 1AM2.
On other hand, I prefer the IER-Z1R much more because they are so special, the bass impact, the soundstage and the precise imaging especially when paired with Pentaconn Coreir eartips. The MDR-Z1R have similar signature yet very different experience but I still prefer the IER version without any doubt at all.
I don't know about the MDR-Z1R, been wanting to try, but I used to have the TH900, which is often said to have endgame-level bass for headphones. It's hard to compare because the experiences are different. The TH900 also has excellent depth and texture like the Z1R. The biggest difference for me is the impact. The Z1R actually pounds your head more, while the TH900 has that tactile feedback from the earpads that vibrates your head. Some people might find that distracting. It's a matter of preferences, I think. The Z1R is far better tuned, by the way.
