SONY IER-Z1R

hey all

Re capacitors topic I also have a chord mojo1 and used that for first 6 months of my ownership of Z1R. Hugo2 is leagues better (after brain burn in esp) ... I am also wondering am I misusing terminology with dynamics? At lower volumes the combo sounds just allround a smaller audio image with less depth and harder to hear the lower volume instruments in the mix. at higher volumes everything opens up and you can really begin to feel at the true center of the mix vs being at the periphery .

So I am wondering if I can attain a better listening experience on the above issue + get a more out of the head and superior soundstage experience with hugo2 + a better iem? As , as i said having a transportable setup i can lounge around the house with is pretty awesome. Plus if I were to go down the black hole of full size cans I'd next be eyeing the Hugo2 TT and Mscaler lol ... I want to try delay that until my 40th bday (36 now!)

I will definitely demo the fir audio products. my local dealer will hopefully have some demo units in store in the next months

Dan
For H2 Try an rca to 4.4 adapter. I experienced a larger soundstage through it. That being said I didn’t find that the H2 is the best partner for many iems. It’s quite dependent on choice of cable

Will that work going from balanced to single ended without frying anything, normally it shouldn’t unless the 4.4 out has ground connected

I’ve been using the Pw audio one for years on the H1 and H2. Dunno how it’s grounded but likely the ground is tied together into the housing

Hi all,

I've been using XBA-Z5 with MUC-M12SM2 cable on my NW-ZX2 walkman since 2015
With the preorder of NW-WM1AM2 going on, I took the plunge to purchase a retail IER-Z1R since it was on heavy discount

Purchased it @ less than SGD $1790 / USD $1318 after conversion :dt880smile:

So here's my dilemma

I do not know what 4.4 plug cable to use, as I understand the MMCX is recessed for Z1R
The stock cable seems to have a lot of complains on the left MMCX breaking

Would like something to complement the bling look, with L shaped plug

Thanks in advance

Yes there has been some where the mmcx plug has broken and left metal bits in the socket or the bud but not that many. In general I find the stock cable to be amongst the best stock cables on the market and I used it happily for 2 1/2 years so try using it first and at least until the phones are burned in before looking for alternatives, you might well be perfectly happy with it. I got the Dunu Blanche both because I like what pure silver does for the sound but mostly for the swappable tips

Wow, that's a amazing price for new. Currently I have a 8 out of 10 status used Z1R from B&H for $1317 after tax. May I know which website you found the deal?

I kind of gotten traumatized by Logitech when the unifying USB got stuck in my laptop, and then broke inside the slot...
Took me a few hours just to extract it out

I can't image doing the same to MMCX when it's so much smaller...

Such a good deal! Do note that I called up connect-it and they told me it was a pre-order I believe. Due to that reason, I called up Sony Wisma and they told me they had 1 left and I sealed it instantly. If there was traffic police along the way I would have gotten back with 1 IER-Z1R and a summon :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Huh?
The stock count said there were 4 left
I’m expecting to get the item on 30-Mar

I'm not sure about online stocks. But I called connect-it the day before heading down to Sony Wisma, which was last week. They do not have any in-store stocks.

Oh. If last week then … probably?
I bought it yesterday

I still need to find time to go to their mortar shop and place an order for the NW-WM1AM2

In meantime will read up on the cables

Not a fan of ear hook type

Thats a solid price but you could have waited till CanJam to buy sia. Sony will be there and the show specials in the last hour are insane.

Their online stock is separate from their in store stock. When I bought my WM1Z at 313 they sent me all the way to NEX to pick up cos they sold their last unit and they don't know how much stock the online store has.

Perhaps is some sort of Japanese management style us efficiency-oriented Sinkies don't understand.
