Yeah there was a price drop during preorder as well here in France/Europe (1850€) but it went back to the initial whopping 2200€...

Didn't pre-orders come with a discount? That's common in most of Asia, certainly was the case here (about $1600 USD converted), increased to regular retail after the promo ended.

Well, it’s not quite as bad as $4800 for a LCD-4 or $3200 for a Legend X custom. (I mean... I understand that the Korean market isn’t that big, but at that Legend X price, it’d be cheaper for me, as someone living in Seoul, to get it done in Tokyo... and that’s including two round-trip flights and dinner at, say, Jiro each time)

As for the Z1R, if I do decide that it’s the best among the newer hybrids, I’ll probably wait for a 15~20% sale at some point. It didn’t take too long for the M7 and M9 prices here to tank anyways.

It's HKD13,999 in Hong Kong, that's roughly USD1780. That's Sony official prices. If you get them from Jaben HK, the prices will be even cheaper.

Can't help you there. It was in August last year that I've last heard the demo.

I can't possibly recall in detail to make a good comparison.
