SONY IER-Z1R

It's HKD13,999 in Hong Kong, that's roughly USD1780. That's Sony official prices. If you get them from Jaben HK, the prices will be even cheaper.
That packaging looks so grand...I just got the Aroma Ace which cost exactly twice as much as the Z1R in Hong Kong but the packaging is so lame and I feel bad now...

I see that you live in HK. Have you ever tried the Ace? (as they seem scarcely available eslewhere). Would be nice for a comparison as I thought they sound pretty similar in tonality. I still kinda want the Z1R but I might opt not to if they sound similar enough.

I would love to get the 008 number, but I think.k the item won't fit me, I haven't even tested it out, only tried the M7 and M9.

Well, Sony is a rather huge company; they can afford to have packaging this nice and not have it affect the MSRP too much. When you’re talking custom IEM companies, the leeway (or economies of scale, I think they’re called) isn’t nearly as loose. With that said, Naga Audio packages their IEMs and accessories kinda like this, except horizontally (so, a wide box with compartments sat next to each other). In my opinion, that’s pretty darn impressive for what can be considered a smaller Chinese company.

Haha yeah I wouldn’t hold it against an iem manufacturer if their packaging wasn’t as nice (and in the end, sound and fit are what matter most).

That said, can’t help but be impressed when you see a product packaged this elegantly.

So no kimber cable for the people who pre-ordered it?

I don’t think that it was offered everywhere. Heard Chinese pre-orders came with Kimber cables, but Korean ones have the A55 instead. Looks like some other places got cheaper prices instead?
