SONY IER-Z1R

lol

And that's good to know...I had a hard time getting consistent answers regarding the ZX300's capacity to drive the Z1R. I'm looking for options beyond the ZX300 not because of how it sounds (I love it) but because its playlist functionality sucks, which is apparently something that will nag at me in the long term.
The ZX300 do fine enough with the Z1R though if you have the N6ii coming then that would be a better choice anyway. The N6ii has more power, for one thing.

Really.....you didn’t find the bass more direct and dense on the IER-Z1R? You didn't find slightly clearer Mids on the IER-Z1R?

By the way......I found the IER-Z1R definitive graph.......lol.

Haven't heard it yet, but the DMP-Z1 is supposed to have great synergy with the IER-Z1R.
Yeah, especially when you consider the use case of the ier-z1r: portable Hi-Fi. :)

Can you tell me where my country lies?

Such a beautiful album. I have no idea what it all means, but it sounds brilliant with the z1r.

Btw, first day with the TC tips (M)... so far so good.

Yes it does. A match made in heaven.

Hi, what volume level do you set on your ZX300 paired with the Z1R through the balanced output? I have ZX300 + XBA N3BP (balanced) and I stay around 78-100 (it depends by the files, with DSD always around 100, with FLAC 24bit around 90-95, with 16bit files around 78-85).

I don't think so cause even WM1Z has not enough power to drive IER-Z1R. Of course, they can produce sound but without cohesion and control.
For best understanding what I mean you should try Z1R with N8 or Chord Hugo.

I heard them with various sources including the DMP-1Z and while there're are an obvious improvement, I don't think they sound so bad with the ZX300 that I would call them "without cohesion and control". They are not the best paring but it because the ZX300 tend to highlight the somewhat problematic accentuated upper mid of the Z1R and less because I think they sound terrible in general. I listen to them on way less than the maximum volume by the way.

The volume level is not the index of "enough power" for them. For instance, Abyss Diana sounds terrific with Cayin N8 with less than the maximum of volume.
BTW I'm a big fan of Z1R and love them much on N8 4.4mm output, but prefer to use CA Solaris with WM1Z.

You preferring a different DAP with the Z1r is subjective and needs no argumentation, but stating that the wm1z doesn't have enough power for the Z1r does require some proof. Unless you hear that it doesn't have enough power.

I typically listen at volumes from 20 to 60, depending on mood and genre. The highest I've gone is 90, but that's not sustainable.
