Burial's music sounds fantastic on a quality set of cans, his sub bass sounds so fresh and natural. Not that my headphones are that great, but still >_>

I really do recommend Loefah's 'Horror Show' to any bass heads, the sub bass in that song is next to none. It's only on vinyl and very rare though, so I would recommend illegally downloading it, because listening to it is really an experience.

+1 for Burial, "Etched Headplate" is my favorite song by him. I also like retro Nuevo by Buscemi, Dystopia by Midnight Juggernauts, Beatsongs and Swagger by the Blue Aeroplanes, and the obvious ones everybody likes all from Jeff Buckley, Radiohead etc.

For me there is something special about listening to early Simon and Garfunkel like the Bridge Over Troubled Water and Bookend Albums on headphones-that early stereo Columbia sound leads to a unique headphone experience

Jazz
Travelling Miles By Cassandra Wilson
Exceptional Tracks
Sky and Sea (blue in green)
Is excellent for testing imaging and mids

Seven Steps
Very good for observing bass detail and texture.

Never Broken
Bass control and balance. If your cans or iem has loose uncontrolled bass .. this track will let you know as it will drown out the rest of the other instruments.

Angela Bofill
Angie
Under the Moon and over the sky
Treble and Treble extension... The track is crystal clear with lots of treble instruments in use excellent test for sibilance and extension.

Electronic
Sub Genre (Chill/Downtempo)

Massive Attack
Want to test bass ?
You cant go wrong with these tracks from Massive Attack
Angel (Raw rattle type bass), Teardrop, Protection

Air
Air i usually listen to in order to identify the musicality of a Headphone vs the headphone being overly analytical and dry.
Tracks used

From Love 2
African Velvet,
You can tell it to everybody

From Walkie Talkie
Universal Traveller, Run, Alone in Kyoto, Cherry Blossom Girl

POP
Alicia Keys
The element of Freedom
Try Sleeping with a broken heart.
(Bass extension and soundstage) I don't listen for the drum kick bass .. i listen to see if the headphone can handle the electronic bass intro without distorting into mush. Its almost a how low can you go type of deal.

Beth Orton
Central Reservation
Sweetest Decline
Musicality.. If your headphones sound dry on a track like this you need something else ..

Elton John
The Greatest Hits 1970-2002
I guess thats why they call it the blues
Instrument identification and separation. Its a slightly busy track in terms of whats playing so i use this to see if the headphone is able to reveal everything or just the regular voice and beat.

Thats just a few of the tracks i use ..

Glitch Mob - Fortune Days

I've been listening to the album constantly lately, but there's something about Fortune Days...It has strings, vocals, and just amazing beats. Rolled up in some sick bass...I just can't stop listening to it. Might be the first track my HE 500s hear when they get to my doorstep.

That is a killer album!
My latest musical infatuation has been Zircon - Antigravity.
Stunning vocals, lots of strings with an odd video game soundtrack vibe.

Also gota have my Bass, so Pendulum - any album will do.
Oceanlab for some great vocals (Sirens of the Sea)
Nero for more great bass (Me and You)
Oh almost forgot Sub Focus (Splash)
