Why wouldn't he? and Beats are the best? Really? You can't be serious. Beats are ridiculously over priced and sound horrible, unless you just want some thumping bass with no tightness and awful imaging. You gotta love what a name and marketing can do for a product. And then we get a huge number of hip-hop fans that think they know something about audio because they spent $300 on a pair of Beats headphones, yet have never listened to a top quality reference monitor, so they have nothing but some cheap earbuds to compare to.
 
You gotta stick with industry standard products when it comes to these things. Shure SE535's for in-ears, bar none. AKG, Audio-Technica, Sennheiser and Shure for studio monitors......hell, even Sony studio monitors are better than Beats. Guaranteed Dre does not use Beats in his studio sessions because if he did everything he would produce would sound horrible, and we all know that isn't the case with what he produces.
 
Now, Beats fans, don't mistake loud bass with quality sound....Beats have no place in the pro-audio industry. Maybe one day they will make a product that will be pro-audio worthy, but as of yet they are purely a bass-head headphone, and not a very good one at that. Seriously, try some of the above cans or in-ears and you just might be saying to yourself that you are hearing music that you've listened to for years in a completely whole new light. You would be amazed what all you are missing in a recording when using an inferior product.

As bad as Beats are, they seem like a pretty perfect match for the compressed monotone bumph bumph music Dr. Dre produces... It wouldn't surprise me if he actually does use them.
 
When I say I Beats are unlistenable for someone looking for headphones for opera and jazz fusion in a leather chair after work with some bubbly, my opinion is probably valid, but come on... 
BUMPH BUMPHHH  pimps/hos/etc is a whole different story.

To OP- the answer is no. I'd bet anything Dre hasn't even done anything to develop these headphones. His endorser probably walked up to him and said "If you endorse these headphones you'll get a crapload of cash" LOL
