Some positive news before the Brexit

I just watched a YouTube video of Cyril Holtz who experienced the A8 a few years ago. Holtz is a french sound editor who just got awarded two weeks ago the Cesar (french equivalent of Oscars) for Best Sound Editing for Jacques Audiard's western The Sisters Brothers (with John C. Reilly, Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal, ...)
So, he is some serious pro, and he admits that he was very impressed by the A8, that even though he is not a rookie in the domain he got fooled by it. He tried many pieces of hardware that eventually did not live up to their claimed qualities but the A8 is the real deal...
Can't wait to put my hands on the A16 !

Both.... you choose which one you want.

I've only tried the Crowson couch actuators.

I found that the subwoofer(s) must be located less than an inch behind the couch to get tremendous immersive physical impact -- it's very different from locating the subwoofer(s) in the usual locations - for example, typically near the main loudspeakers or the corners of room, etc..

Agree that real subs are better with real music
For example, subwoofers are preferred for Baroque pipe-organ music as well as the 1812 overture.

For me, so far, "Master and Commander" movie ship canon fire has stunning visceral impact only when the subwoofer is placed behind the couch -- very happy with it -- even with headphones instead of the main speakers.

I might have to ressurrect my old Velodyne HGS-10 Sub. Maybe a mix of my Crowson actuators and the Velodyne sub might give the best of both worlds without upsetting family members sleeping in an adjacent room.
