You're welcome.
It's all a bit complicated. I do not have the 24ch version though.
With the 16ch version and 9.1.x room and the fact that the upmixer does not use the front wides, the only thing that gets upmixed from a 7.1 signal are the top/height channels, I think.
With the 24 ch version and more speakers on the listener level, like Lsc, Ls1, Lrs1 and so on it would be interesting what the upmixer does with a 7.1 PCM signal.

I managed to create a 15.1.8 room, This is fun. Sharing my 15.1.6 that was preloaded.
Interesting that the room is missing two speakers.... anyway.... if you would desire to build this as it was created at the Smyths then here are the details...
your not missing the bottom two speakers at 23 and 24... your actually missing the two speakers at 11 and 12 ... the missing speakers are LH and RH (Left and Right height speakers)
I think if you want to build this room the way the Smyths did you would need to go to the room and unlock it ( if locked ) and write down the speakers in all of the locations starting at 11 and finishing at 22....then to edit the room you would just start at entry 11 and change that entry to LH and then change entry 12 to RH and then of course add back in the speakers that you wrote down and populate each speaker and work your way down to entry 24....

If you look at the manual page 95/96 it shows the speaker assignments for the A16 (16ch) and what is missing is the A16 (24ch) assignments that have been added.... the new assignments for ATMOS are
LH,RH,LHR,RHR,LSC,RSC,LS1,RS1,LRS1,RRS1 at least for the BBC PRIR....

they need to update the manual for 24 ch...and what ever else they change/add

You can not edit (Ref) speakers (labels) in an Atmos (or DTS) room.
You have to choose the correct listening mode and then you have a fixed layout which must be populated with the correct speakers (labels) from PRIRs.

Only PCM rooms can be freely edited, but up to max. 16 ch as it seems.

the missing speakers are LH and RH (Left and Right height speakers)

as far as i can see the 15.1.6 room has 6 tops and no heights, whereas the 15.1.8 room has 4 tops and 4 heights.
The 15 speakers on listener level should be the same.
The "normal" 9 speakers plus the screen channels Lsc, Rsc plus additional surrounds Ls1, Rs1 plus additional rear surrounds Lrs1, Rrs1

They must have changed it... you can select single speakers from the PRIR that you are using to populate the Atmos Room...

The more I'm thinking it over it probably would be better/easier to just create a new 15.1.8 Atmos room and let the A16 populate the room with the speakers from the BBC PRIR using the select all matching speakers and let the A16 populate the 15.1.8 ...

This is what I told him all along and it seems he already did this.

Manual p. 82:
In the Dolby Atmos and DTS:X listening modes the reference speaker names cannot be changed, and the channel number assigned to each speaker is also fixed–the channel numbers correspond to the 16-channel phono outputs on the rear panel of the A16.
For PCM listening rooms, the user can edit the reference speaker names in the pre-configured listening modes, and can also create custom layouts.
And this has to be true also for the 24ch version.

you can select single speakers from the PRIR that you are using to populate the Atmos Room...
Yes of course, you can select a Vspkr that matches the Ref speaker in a listening room from any PRIR you like, as long as it contains a Vspkr labelled the same as the Ref spkr.
You can populate your 24ch room from 24 different PRIRs, if you have them..

But you can not edit the listening room, you can not change Ref speaker labels and you can not add new speakers.
I'd be surprised if this would now be possible!

I did add the heights on front and back and skipped the midTops that got me to 15.1.8. I must express my gratitude to all the Realiser users here, if not for you guys this journey would be a lot more difficult .

I think we are talking about different things...

Glad you got it to work Thomas.... I messed up by thinking all along that you had a 15.1.8 room that was missing two speakers... I didn't pay attention to your original post where you said they loaded a 15.1.6 in location 4... so I got side tracked there.... the easiest way to get the 15.1.8 into the location 4 was simply to let the A16 create a new 15.1.8 BBC room.... sorry for the confusion... ;-)

I had an opportunity to hook up a media player to my realiser, first the unit wouldn't respond with the other devices connected turned on.

Later while testing Fury Road and John Wick 3 there was an audio video drop for a second , I suspect it may be the player,

Later on there was only a white screen on startup, responded after an off/on ( I remember someone else mentioned this white screen) My device is from the new boards batch.

No head tracker set up yet, no personal prirs, no HPEQ, or manloud must say the Neumann dummy head prirs worked pretty well for me. the fight scenes had a spatial quality that rivaled my real atmos setup , of course bass is on the weaker side with senheisser HD800S.

After 2 days of exploring the new 24ch operation, I'm puzzled with bass management. APM89 Bass / Treble control doesn't seem to do anything anymore and somehow I'm lost with old bass management options, I'm not sure how they work anymore...

Also notable is that 24ch mode is only usable on HDMI inputs, you cannot use it with LINE/USB/SPDIF which is ok, but good to know. Dolby Atmos sounds amazing with 24ch precision with those Dolby atmos trailers.

I wish the user manual will be updated with current channel names and locations and lists which presets use them. Currently, I have found the same speakers called with 3 different names which is very confusing.

Upgraded A16 got delivered today after quite the trip. There was a vehicle malfunction of some sort in the tracking as well as UPS refusing to deliver the package originally since no one informed the driver that I paid my $38.79 in import fees over the phone yesterday. Seem to have arrived in one piece and everything booted fine.

As suspected, eARC is definitely not enabled. I also have completely forgotten how to do even simple things like change the user names in the almost three months it was gone. Going to take some time to get used to it again and get everything setup as it was before I shipped it back to them. Feels good to have it back and fingers crossed that the rest of you waiting on returns or your backer order receive your units soon!
