No no, you're supposed to run your power cable through the bowl of fudge. That way it strips the electrons of the pixie-ions so that there's less interference in the unicorn receiver unit and therefore fairy dust doesn't make its way into the audio signal and add any elf distortion.

No kidding... everyone knows that.

I just received my shure SRH940 in the mail yesterday. I dont have an amp yet (Getting one tomorrow). I have to say I was a tad disappointed. They do sound great but in my opinion not much better than my etymotic HF5. The HF5 is fully burned in though, and the 940 has about 12 hours. How much better will the 940 get after burn in? Also, how much better with the FiiO E7 I am getting tomorrow.

Maybe you'll have a better experience than me... but I thought the e7 paired poorly with the 940. The e9 however paired very well!

I'm pairing my SRH940 with iBasso D-Zero and I must say that the combination is kinda good for the price I paid for D-zero. Maybe you should try it out.

Has anyone here compared the HD-598 to the SRH-940?

I bet on a warm amp, the SRH-940, would sound like a closed HD-598 that's slightly less warm and with more treble and more forward mids. I bet the bass on both is very comparable in quantity.

I think fans of the SRH-940 might like the HD-598. I remember having them both at the same time and there's a few similarities with my setup. I never really realized this at first. Don't ask me how...

To me, the SRH-940 was slightly warm and had very full sounding mids (not even remotely thin, just when under-amped) just like the HD-598. HD-598 is definitely more forgiving and smoother sounding though.

BTW has anyone tried the SRH-940 with gaming? Maybe with Skyrim. I've found gaming to be a good test of a headphones overall sound signature.

It's amazing how many headphones you think are good for music are horrible for gaming. Koss A/250 and the AKG Sextette are especially bad for gaming, but OK for music.

With the A/250 for gaming it felt like it was mostly treble shoved in my face.

Maybe I will sell my Grado SR-325is and get an SRH-940. Kicking myself for "upgrading" my SR-225i to the SR-325is.

Pardon my bad grammar and spelling im typing this from my iPhone. I find anyone who claims these to be any good laughable. After further listening and comparing even my $100 m50 sound much better. No I'm not complaining about lack of bass it's the vocals. The presentation of vocals on these are just atrocious. I don't know why people consider this their strong point. I am going to say these are about 2x over priced. What happened shure? Before anyone claims I was a huge lover consider this. I was until I did further comparisons between everything else I own. The only headphones I have which performed worse were some $70 pioneer headphones. I am appalled by the value of these headphones. My rant is over. Heck I prefer my ms1 over these by a long shot.

If you think vocals sound good on these you have bad hearing or have been listening to headphones all the time and ignoring real peoples voices. Vocals on these are just plain terrible. I'm sorry but they are.

Well, perhaps. I  don't have a problem with vocals . But I  tend to prefer instrumentals.
The thing weird, is that you claimed finding your "audio nirvana" , and now you tell they suck. It's like  a "contrast shower" ( or "****** écossaise" in french).
At least you should edit your review, it would be more "fair".

When i wrote that review i had just got them and i was in a honeymoon period. Now that i have had them for a month i now know what they sound like. They are quite mediocre.

I will edit the review.
