I prefer the SE846 with brown knowles dampers over either the W60 or the Andromedas. A lot of people seem to like the Andromedas though,

Thanks for the reminder about the Knowles. I still need to try these out. Finishing school and now trying to figure out when I'll schedule revision surgery for my hip replacement has had me not thinking clearly. That, along with getting old...lol. I'd like to accomplish at least getting the Knowles and the surgery complete before starting grad school in the fall.

Interesting, well the 846 are on sale right now so it's really tempting. When does the 846 sale end, does earphone solution offer return and are they official shure dealers?

Can some of you kindly comment which are the best DAC/amps for the 846s?

I recently bought a pair.

I´m sure this has been discussed extensively in this thread but reading 1147 pages is too much for me right now.

There are a million possibilities. What is your main use case? Desktop at home? Work? On the move/mobile?

It would be at home with an Android tablet, mainly.

Mobile OTG would be less frequent. I can consider a different option for this case.

I use a Mojo which many in this thread agree is a fantastic pairing. However, with that combo, to me the treble still comes off a little hard edged for my tastes. If I decide to keep the 846 after a shootout at canjam with the Campfire Vega, I'll probably get the new Hugo 2 for its filter capabilities and/or something from Centrance with their well implemented EQs.

I use a Pono player in balanced mode. It sounds really great and not super expensive.

You guys are gonna slay my wallet. Just ordered these cause I just could not pass up the discounted price. Join me in the club. Will see how these compare against my IE800. I know they aren't the same but I want to see which one I like better.

Heard they compliment each other very well.

Yeah, I think the unofficial motto here is something like "welcome to head-fi, RIP your wallet".
