I tried going to Angie (chasing the *wow* factor) but was extremely disappointed with angles and shipped them out after a few hrs of listening, very unimpressive and very disappointed, se846 to me are funner and you can change sound with nozzles.

But still... Se846 got to go, not enjoying them as I figured I would, they just aren't *fun* *immersive* *engaging*

Gonna audition some full sized HPs. Hopefully the magic is there

you really made me not consider the angie anymore although they rave about it in the angie thread

but i am considering adel 12u

Angie lacked thr impressive *wow factor * they are bulky, isolation just isn't thr same...... Highs are well extended, better then 846, bass was OK, mids were generic to me, se846 better than Angie, ie800, akg 3003, and grado 1000e, nighthawk, ect... So far it's the best yet, but I'm still not very impressed, idk. Maybe I expect to much

I agree.  I've spent a long time listening with both the Layla and the Angie.  While I did feel their separation and soundstage were better than the SE846s, they were bulky, and lacked the fun, slam, and comfort of the SE846s.  I went in to my audition hoping to upgrade from my SE846s to a Layla, and I left far happier with my SE846s than I would have imagined.

The Noble K10, however...

K10 a massive improvement?

K10 a massive improvement?

In high end audio the term massive is rarely an honest evaluation. The K10U is better in many respects but it does not leave the 846 in total embarrassment. I own both and I can say with certainty that the K10UA is better than the 846 but it is not massive. However it is an obvious step up.

I'll second that. I love my 846. Love the k10u more. The 846 fits better though. It is the best fitting universal I own.

Anxious to hear your impressions of the 846 vs K10 vs U12!

Same here, because I've been looking for an upgrade over r the se846 (looking for fun, immersive, engaging sound) (((the wow factor)))
And my se846 hasn't been beat yet, haven't tried who knows what but UE 18, Angie, akg 3003 < (what a joke that was), grado 1000, nighthawk.... Nothing beat it in sound

Trying my hardest to get a kaiser 10U to just try, but idk how to go about it

I can say that the 846 is still a wonderful and respectable iem in my view. I love unique iems with unique signatures and qualities. The 846 is a keeper and brings subbass comfort and isolation to the table.

I'm most interested in the K10U and U12 right now, especially the Adel module.

Honestly once you get to that level it is more a matter of personal taste than anything else. You will never find "the one best". At that level there is no best only what sounds best to you. I would not suggest spending upwards of $1500 on anything unless you can hear it for yourself first.
