Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

I can't really recommend to much on dac's but heared good stories about Hiby FC3 and FC5 or the Shanling UA5. I am planning to buy the FC3, seems more than enough power for the se846 and runs on ESS 9281Pro chip which is a low power high quality dac. And the FC3 is a really good priced (small) dac and can be ordered together with a lightning cable.

regarding colors, what I like about the gen2 is that de new colors Jade and Graphite is color combined with clear, so best of both worlds.
Ок,
I understand that there is no ShurePlus PLAY for imac or macbook.
In that case RMCE-TW2 it should just connect directly via bluetooth? How does it sound without ShurePlus PLAY via imac or macbook?

You don’t need the app to use the TW2 since now even the EQ is stored on the TW2. Otherwise the app is used to change settings and update firmware, the player part is not necessary.

More than adequate alternative.

What's the output impedance on the Fiio. My guess is that Shure accounted for the 846's low impedance with the TW2.

Tried, answer is no, the TW2 sound better, has better transparency mode and better EQ modes specific for the shures, besides that, the TW2 stores all settings regarding sound in the adapters itself, in other words, you configure once, and than everywhere you connect them to, they sound they way you want it to.

so that doesn't mean the fiio is a bad brand, but the TW2 is just a better choice

but choice is not mine to make, not my wallet

Well, first post on the forum! Hello!

I’ve been considering a pair of 846 for a couple of years, but decided to push the button this week and they arrived this morning. They’re gen 2 so come with the new red filter installed, but at the expense of a spare cable…possibly a fair trade.

I’ve owned a few mid-range IEMs over the years, although my ancient TF10 still doing service (been glued together several times), some UE900, etc etc.

Plugged the 846 into my Dragonfly, got some tracks going and after quite a short period of running in, my goodness…they’re incredible! I was worried the difference would be very much one of diminishing returns, maybe I’d prepared for the worst, but not so.

I can’t comment on how the red filters sound compared to the blue/white/black just yet because, they’ve been stuck in my ears for the past 8 hours. But I will do a comparison at some point soon.
