Shure SE535: Reviews and First Impressions Thread

I am going to have to get out and listen to these if I can find them locally. I have been looking for something to upgrade to from my Apple In ears and my SRH840s are just to heavy and bulky to pack around. I haven't been able to find a pair of IEMs that I like the sound from yet.

I bought the SE425 over the 535 when I had the choice as well.

In terms of being 'good' at a wider range of genre, the SE535 is definitely better at a wider range. On the other hand, the SE425 is a very laidback earphones, which can mean 'boring' to some genres. However, if you ask me, its laidbackness is very relaxing and gives a very refreshing change of pace where I simply listen to the flow of the music instead of everything else. And yes, the SE425 does that better than the SE535.

I have a comparison written for those two. Just got the summary left, so I'll probably post it tomorrow or something.

On the other note, W4 is coming in for me sometime this week. So, I'll definitely let you guys know my impressions.

I find that the black cable is quite a bit softer (and maybe lighter) than the clear. The wire on the clear is just a little bit heavier and stiffer, especially around the memory wire. This is from memory though...

Agree!

ClieOS has the SE530 in his review :) Well I would say if you can afford 1964 customs you should go that route imo

I'm just curious... did anyone included those earphones in a general top, like the one from here?

I would be interested to see a comparison top between more top-model earphones, in order to make a decision about what I can buy in maximum 500USD.

Someone would recommend Westone or 1964 Ears, instead of Shure SE535?

I use Pearl V2.  While I don't have experience with any other third party cable, I love it.

Even if I get PAID to use the factory cable again, I will say no.

Got a pair just yesterday! They pair well with my Pico Slim and CLAS.

Soundstage is surprisingly large for IEM so they work well for large scale orchestral works (and classical music in general). Instruments are nicely textured and full sounding.

Bass extends low but quantity is a bit lacking, so some genres like rock sound less exciting to me than, say, the JVC FX700's.

Love them so far!

Hi there audio geeks.

Is there such a thing as "burning in"?  Will the sound of my 535s improve with time?

Thanks!

I think so. My experiences have been around 50 hours or so max. with dynamic headphones. IEMs like the SE535, no effect of burn-in on sound.

Found this interesting:

When you guys go places, do you use the case to carry them around? I have for the last week or so, but the case is big, so when i have nice shorts on or their tight, i dont want to have some case sticking out.

I use an empty Altoids mint case for transport of all of my IEMs. It's flatter, offer great protection, and is a nice alternative to the Shure case.

Great Idea!!! Note for more bass regarding the 535's the triple flange work perfect, a little uncomfortable for some also the Large Comply P's work great too
