Monoprice AMT arrived yesterday. I like the self-standing option. Last night was fun making an EQ for it because Monoprice decided to tune it FLAT in the upper mids and treble area. It does take EQ very well, and I am quite impressed with the full range response, even the low end. I thought my planar M1570 were good with bass, but these are another level. They dig down DEEP. Lots of ear room on the pads, can fit 4 knuckles into the ear space.
And boy do they love power. And there's a break-in period, as the sound changed as I put some power into the ribbons for awhile. Now I can use them using about the same power as the planars. And they can get really loud, and not distort if you like going deaf.
My first impression of them is CLEAN EFFORTLESS DETAIL. There is no congestion, even in busy tracks. And the spatial space and imaging are amazing, and work incredibly with HRTF imaging in conjunction with Redscape in both gaming and 5.1 movie playback. I was running around in Diablo 4 and even the snow crunching under my toon's boots was impressive and clear.
Fit is a little loose on my head for my tastes, I may have to pad the headband. Pads are similar to the M1570 ones, being memory foam wrapped in lambskin, with a fenestrated interior. They are also angled, and the yokes pivot for better head fit. As in the pic, they swivel to face down.

What material do they use for the pads and headband? I have a set of Crossfade LP, and they are still working, but the pleather on the headband has deteriorated into a flaky mess, as did the pads. I had to put a zippered sock on the band, and on my 2nd set of XL pads.V-Moda M100 Master

I believe it is still pleather but of better quality apparently. This is why I was looking for some premium animal skin options from Delkoni. What material do they use for the pads and headband? Liking the sonnet 2? Punches well above the price point huh?

• Absolutely. The Electro-Harmonix 6H30 tubes [Upscale Audio, ARC select, cryo treated] are wonderful. One can’t go wrong, either, with a ‘strong testing’ NOS Mullard GZ34.Liking the sonnet 2? Punches well above the price point huh?
• With the 120-ohm output impedance (TRS at ‘IEC’ and ‘0dB’ settings), Sonnett 2 is fabulous with my ZMF dynamic-driver headphones!

REALLY dig the new work setup.
I've never heard a Grado headphone but I see a lot of people complaining about the comfort and issues with the sound so not sure what to trust until I try a pair.REALLY dig the new work setup.

Are they the most comfortable headphones in the world? Definitely not. But they are very lightweight, can be adjusted per listening head and since they’re on ear, a perfect seal is much less of a concern. There’s a cult following for a reason!I've never heard a Grado headphone but I see a lot of people complaining about the comfort and issues with the sound so not sure what to trust until I try a pair.
If you’re interested to check some out, let me know. Got some of the lower end models sitting around I’d be happy to loan you.
