really managed to really simplify the office rig; went from a Gustard u18/schiit Modius/Magnius stack from the rpi4 with mulitple cords and cables, to just one box and a power cord.
running off a hot spot from my phone. radio stations play just fine. no issues with Bluetooth either. really glad to have gotten some clutter off the desk.
*please ignore the rpi4 date.. it hasn't been used in a while.
I’d say it splits the difference between the May and the Dave in a way. Although I’m going off of memory with the Dave. A little more analytical than the May but not as much as the Dave. I like it a lot but purposely haven’t done any A/B testing yet. I have a few hundred hours on the May but maybe 50-60 on the Weiss.
I think my taste may have changed. At one point there was no such thing as too warm and at some point I realized it was too much for me and I wanted something more neutral and more analytical. I tried a really analytical setup but that was too much also, so there’s this middle ground that I’m finding to be my goldilocks. A moderately analytical dac with a ton of detail but with a tube amp and a neutral headphone.

did a bit of DIY this evening. some matte black sticker wrap and a sharp hobby knife did the trick. was always slightly annoyed the NAD M23 wasn't completely black..
wanted to do the silver on the grills on the top cover but it was just too difficult.. anyways figured it doesn't really show when on the rack. the wrap job isn't too perfect, but it'll do..
