The Q1 is a good device but it in my experience doesn't handle larger (12k+) librarie very well. Out of the box the Q1 sounds better than the A55 but the custom firmware from MrWalkman shifts the advantage to the A55.

I have over 13000 tracks on my Q1 and I haven't had any issues. With the latest firmware operation is very smooth with no lag for me. Honestly it is only on the software side that I find it a little lacking but still functional for the price paid I have been satisfied. I simply miss the having that complete DAP with hardware and software equally good. Something I miss from a Sony DAP and seemingly always coming up short on the Chinese DAP's.

That is it exactly the custom firmware is what is getting me to make the move along with the great deal I got. I simply found the stock A55 sound to be bland and lifeless when I demoed one a couple of years ago. With the A55 seeming to disappear quickly I simply had to pull the trigger on one now or regret it down the road. The fact it should arrive just after my birthday is a nice bonus and birthday present to myself.

I would doubt it, and Shanling has discontinued the Q1 so not sure what support or replacement parts will still be available.

It's still for sale on the official store on Aliexpress.
I've enquired at that site as well, they might still have some spares.
I was really hoping for a response from the Shanling chappie that responds here regularly.
Looking at the M0 thread he asked people to enquire at that store for spares.

Well, do you have some basic knowledge how to repair phones? Q1 is easier than that.

Replacement screen is available, but we would highly recommend trying to work with your local Shanling distributor on shipping. Unfortunately our shipping cost makes repairs on Q1 bit problematic.

thanks for the prompt reply. Your presence on Headfi is excellent and one of the reasons that I am so keen on Shanling.
The only UK dealer that I know of is AMP3 but they only stock the M0.
If I DM you (or vice versa) could you let me have either a price for a new screen posted to me or pass me on to somebody that can help.

I've never tried anything like this before but will have a go and it's a chance to grow.

@Shanling hi I have the Q1 with the latest 2.2 firmware and I am having an issue where the player does not play anything over bluetooth when paired with my Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless (not the IEM, I mean the full-size Momentums). The device is showing "aptx" in the right top corner but I cannot hear any music. Can you please advise?

edit: to add some info on what all I've tried: tried resetting the Momentum, clearing the paired devices list, switching codec to AAC and SBC on the Q1, setting the volume to maximum on both Q1 and the Momentums, nothing helped. The headphones pair with the Q1 successfully, but I cannot hear any audio. Only silence.

edit2: the headphones work without issue with my 2 phones (iphone 12 and Huawei P smart)

other than adding the entire contents of a folder to a playlist, is there a way to shuffle through all songs and sub-folders in a given folder?

Also, I recently got Hifiman HE 400 SE and Q1 on high gain can easily play these cans. Will is see any kind of improvement SQ wise if I switch to a desktop or a powerful portable amp?

We are aware of such reports. Unfortunately it seems Sennheiser once again goes bit unusual with their approach to Bluetooth headphones and it cause incompatibility with our Mtouch system. At current time there is no fix.

Shuffle songs from multiple folders? No.

I wouldn't hold my breath, none of the other MTOUCH Dap's all of which were released before the Q1 have been updated. The M5S was discontinued, the M0 was likely dropped for the more practical Q1 and the M2X again no update for that either. It would seem that Shanling is going all in on the android DAP's and given how small their software team is I can't see them taking time to also work on another MTouch DAP. Though it would be nice if @Shanling could confirm that the MTouch DAP line is truly dead. It would be a pity because these are the only Shanling DAP's I would ever buy.
