Shanling M1s - Compact Portable Player (Discontinued)

Is this happening with the same files each time? Can you send them to us for testing?

It's bit-perfect output for local playback.

For Tidal, that's not something we can confirm, especially when it comes to MQA files, as they are currently bit strangely run through the Tidal API.

We don't see such issues reported by other users.

If you can send us PM or email at info@shanling.com, we can check on this with you further.

I have carried out the downgrade and upgrade process from versions 2.4, 2.5 and 2.6, always from the MicroSD (no longer via WiFi) and the problem decreased for the MQA files practically to some noise or occasional cutting. For DSD it still continues but less frequently.

Will there then be a problem in the update process via WiFi???

I ran some tests and here are the results. All the problems I mentioned above occur with a bluetooth connection. So it's not the fault of the file system or the sd card. So far I have only tested with the LDAC codec. I don't know how on others. No matter what headphones or equipment is connected. The music stops after a few songs. Tested on Edifier WH950NB, Soundpeats TWS Air 3 Deluxe HS and Fiio BTA30 Pro. The problem does not occur on wired headphones.

Wi-Fi and local firmware updates are the same, there is no reason why it should have any impact on behaviour of the device.

Please have you tested any other MicroSD card on your player? Ideally freshly formatted to exfat.

You can try to switch to different Bluetooth codecs in Bluetooth settings.

Will it be possible to add the unlock function with double tap on the screen or something similar? With so much pressure on the knob it will be screwed very soon!!!

Not available on our MTouch system.
We have been using similar system for past 6 years, the push in function is not something that would be common failure.

Theoretically I could but.... Why should I do it? I bought a device that was promoted with, among other things, LDAC codec support. And now I should switch to SBC? Or is it up to the manufacturer to try to fix it? When the original (I checked) sd card from Samsung did not work for me, they recommended to change the card. Which works on all other devices just not on m1s. Further advice is to downgrade the software. And now changing the codec to a worse one. If the other products have such support, it speaks a little badly of the company.

This is basic troubleshooting. On our side we see no issues with LDAC connection, so we are trying to see if it's something that might be limited to just LDAC processing on your unit, or if it affects all codecs and there is some deeper issue with all Bluetooth connection.

If you do not wish to proceed with this, you can contact your seller for refund or warranty repair.

Also had to stop using LDAC on this and other Bluetooth players recently because after Android update on Google Pixel 8 Pro it started cracking sounds and nothing helps....

The bluetooth on this is terrible, cuts out frequently. Earphones are AptX adaptive, but this downgrades that to AptX. I have no issue with the earphones with any other device, phone, laptop, M2s.
I also have a Shanling M2s which I thought I was upgrading, but the M1s is much worse, I should have returned it when I could.

Edit: now I see there is a new firmware version, I will try this and see if there is any improvement.

So version 2.6 lists fixes as:
  1. Adjusted text scrolling speed
  2. Adjusted system performance when in low power or when waking up from standby
  3. Adjusted Vehicle Mode
  4. Other fixes and improvements

At first test, the buttons seem to work at last, which is a good fix (must be an 'Other fix').
I'm hoping for better bluetooth now.

I found BT transmitter is unusable, ie player in jeans pocket dropping out sound to tws earbuds.. BT receiver is very stable and good with Aptx HD for example.
