It's been a long time, but it's a pity that the software doesn't develop. I'm using m0pro,m1s, but I don't think I'll buy any more products

Yes, it's pretty poor that's the reason I returned main.

I was looking at the M5 Ultra but it is out of my price range and I was really hoping there would be a cheaper MTouch option with a larger screen than the M1S like another M2 variant. An M1 Plus would be a great option possibly if the hardware is solid. When do you think information will be available for this? I was hoping to get my next DAP around Black Friday (November 29th). I would be willing to wait for this if information is available in the next couple of months. I am also looking at the DX180 but I would prefer a non-android DAP so I will be watching for this for sure.

I have an "interim" Shanling M1S before i get either a M23 or Fiio DX180 shortly - on both those models am I better off connecting to USB C for audio rather than the headphone jack as I dont believe the M1S carry audio on its usb C port.

M1s offers USB output over USB-C to DAC.

Ah I didnt realise that as I am sure I saw someone say it didnt somewhere - is that always preferable over the audio jack for sound quality ?

What are you trying to accomplish? The USB out will carry a digital signal to another DAC, bypassing the M1S’s internal DAC, while the audio jack will carry an analog signal to your transducer, or an amp, or powered speakers (using the internal DAC for conversion).

I have a USB C input and audio jack on my Focal Bathys - I was just wondering if there was any reason to use one over the other with the M1S and any future DAP i might buy....

I suppose reading your comment it comes down to which DAC i think is better in that scenario then and at the M1S cost price I would hope its the Bathys !

For Bathys, as they are pretty much fully digital headphones, it might be better to run them through the USB cable or Bluetooth.
