Sennheiser RS160, 170 ,180... Anyone?

Hi Rosmadi,

Hope you can assist.
I just bought from AMAZON.de the RS180

You mentioned in the earlier advice that the Bandwidth of 2400  - 2483.5 Mhz is for RS160/170/180

Can you urgently advice if the RS180 I just bought today 17th August 2013 from Amazon Germany can be used in Singapore. And if I can't use it in Singapore what can be done about it .

Would really appreciate you prompt response .

Thank you very much.

Will there be a wireless successor to RS 180 or RS 220?
Anything in the sub $300-400 bracket planned for 2013/2014?

Hi tapedeck,

Yes, you may use your RS 180 in Singapore even though you bought it via Amazon Germany. All of our RS 160/170/180 models utilize Kleer's digital wireless audio transmission operating over the 2.4GHz bandwidth.

As mentioned, the 900 MHz band (925 - 935 MHz) is mainly used by cellular mobile services in Singapore. So it's not a good idea to get the US variants of the RS 110 II and RS 120 II if you intend to use them in Singapore.

TheDeliveryMan, i just noticed you are a Senn rep. Can you tell me how to make it so the transmitter stops going "to sleep" when the headphones are shut off?! It is driving me crazy. I just want to keep it on.... Any way this issue could be addressed? Maybe a special combination of button presses could override this device behavior?

Sorry if this has already been answered but it seems like a big concern if the trasmitter really does this. I was going to purchase the RS 180 but I won't if this is truly the case. Can anyone confirm?

Many thanks!

Hey guys, first time poster here. I read through this thread a few years ago before I bought my RS160's. I've got a few questions that I hope someone (Rosmadi?) can help me with, but first an observation; batteries matter.

I searched through the thread and couldn't find anything on this. After about 12 months of using the RS160, I bought an additional pair of the headphones (HDR160?). After a while I thought something was wrong with one pair, because the sound quality was less than the other pair. In the end it turns out it was the rechargeable batteries in the original pair that were the issue. As soon as I put in some new AAA's, the sound was MUCH better. Has anyone else noticed this?

Anyway, on to my question...I can no longer pump the same volume through the base station as I used to be ablde to. It's flashing red and clipping at a much lower volume than it used to. It's still loud, but not quite loud enough. I'm running them from a PC into a Yamaha AMP, thenout of the AMP's headphone port into the vase station. Windows is set to pass through the audio untouched to the amp (I'm mostly using DTS/AC3 tracks).

Any tips? Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi smokyjoe,

Normally, we'd recommend to listen at moderate levels so that you won't get the clipping at all. I won't comment on your amp but does it help if you remove it from your setup? Do you still get the same issue?

I never used to get anywhere near the volume required for clipping, but something had happened. To be certain, I've tried combinations of:

1. Windows PC, various software
2. Linux PC, XBMC
3. iPhone

All 3, I've tried running:
1. Through Yamaha amp
2. Through Fiio headphone amp
3. Direct from source.

I still cannot get a decent volume without clipping.flashing red. Any ideas?

Hi smokyjoe,

I'm not sure if we can offer a solution for this issue without inspecting your unit. Could you send it to be checked at the nearest Sennheiser service centre?

Hi globalist,

If the transmitter could not detect and pair with any receivers within 5 minutes, it will automatically go to 'sleep'.

Unfortunately I purchased these in December 2010, so I'm outside the 2 year warranty period. Does anyone know where to buy a stand-alone Kleer transmitter? As I have 2 sets of the headphones, I doubt it's these that are the issue, so I'm hoping a new transmitter will fix it.

Hi Rosmadi,

I just bought the RS 180 from aSaving (thru Amazon.com) last week, not sure if this is a authorized retailer (Is there a way to check?). The headphone is amazing!

Today I opened the ear pads (to change battery) and one of the plastic clips of the left ear pad was broken. It's too fragile, I turned the ear pad very slow and gentle.

Is it covered by the warranty? How do I contact Sennheiser for warranty?

Thanks,
dnguyen

Problem with RS 180.

I just got my RS180 30th August from Amazon Germany.( Sold by Amazon EU sarl  ) with elation and high hope.

Since yesterday I have been struggling to set up. (When I used mu old fathful HDR45 it was a breeze whether I am on TV channels or I switched to DVD)

I get separate vocals from the instruments and often the sound came from the right whether TV or DVD.
( am using Pioneer Plasma PDP436HDG ) The sound was either on the right or sound from both sides came on but did not sound normal.

Today after reading the manual from the disc  I tried to fifddle with the Transmitter and the Headphone and when  eventually I pulled and pushed the jack to the Input of the Receiver, both Right and Left channels came on from the DVD   But when I switched to TV channel with the TV Remote (with the Jack to the Receiver Input undisturbed) only the Right channel had sound on despite pressing down balance L and R buttons on the Headphone the only sound I head was still from the Right channel.

I even tried pressing the ALC button on the Trasmitter when my Headphone was One meter away to get balance for both channels but to no avail.

Because of the trial and tribulation I missed Michael Jackson programme on TV;!

What can I do to make sure that whether I switch to TV or DVD the sound should come both from the Left and RIght channels and also at Balanced.levels.
I also find the buttons on the Right Ear-cup a chore and perplexing but that is nothing I can do. I wasn't aware of that. Comparatively my old HDR45 was a breeze.

As I cannot go back into the past anyone to share solutions? Perhaps Rosmadi; sorry to tax you; can chip in and offer solutions.

Is the Inlet of the Pioneer Receiver causing the problem at all?

Thanks
