Sennheiser RS160, 170 ,180... Anyone?

It may be possible to disassemble the unit to get to the screws holding the legs to the transmitter. I wonder if doing so would interfere with its transmit strength, especially placed behind your t.v.

You have to be able to reach the transmitter easily because you must manually turn it On and Off and make selections for gain and filtering.

Can you leave it on all the time? The range should not be an issue I guess? I need it for 6m max

I suppose you could leave it on all the time. I'd ask Sennheiser reps about it.

Placing it behind your T.V. may work but I wonder about interference with the signal from the T.V. Try it and see what you think.

Hey guys. I'm seriously considering buying a pair of RS-180 but I've got a couple of questions about them, hopefully someone can answer.

1. I've got an amp that I would like to use with the RS-180, is this possible? The amp is an Audinst HUD MX-1 (http://audinst.com/en/bbs/board.php?bo_table=HUDmx1&wr_id=4). If it is possible, how would I connect them? And would the amp improve the sound quality despite the face that they are wireless?

2. How much do they really leak? If I were to listen to music with a high volumet, would the leak so much that the could wake up a person sleeping if they're lying next to me?

3. How long does it take for the batteries to charge from 0-100%? And how long does a full charge last with constant use?

Would appreciate it alot if someone could do their best and answer these questiions.

Best greetings!

Hi! First of all sorry if my english is problematic, I'm from Argentina and speak spanish.
1) I use my rs180 with my headamp4 (http://artproaudio.com/artcessories/headphone_amps/product/headamp_4/) and really fell an improvement but as this are wireless cans, already has an amp built in in the emitter and you may not feel an improvement depending on your amp. To connect the cans to the amp, just plug the 3.5 pin of the emitter in the amp out.

2) They leak less than my fidelio L1 and my Pionners SE-A1000, but at high volume you absolutely may bother someone tryin to sleep next to you.

3) I'm a video editor and use the cans 8+ hs a day and absolutely never have runned out of juice. I put the cans over the emitter for charging over night and in the morning they are ready to go. Sorry but I can't be more precise.

I really love the RS180 for the comfort and the sound quality.

I hope this can help you.

Saludos!
Franco.-

I purchased the RS 170's a couple of weeks ago.  I like the KLEER technology...definitely an upgrade to my prior Senn wireless units which used RF and lasted for years.  Overall, the RS 170's are pretty good...not great but that's fine for their price point.

My biggest complaint is they are UNCOMFORTABLE.  The pleather earpad material and the padding compresses very easily and there is such a thin amount of material covering the drivers that my ears sit up against the drivers (hard plastic or metal) and they ache at times. I don't have small ears so I expect I'm not the only that have had that experience.  I have not read through all 30 pages of this thread yet.

Are there any better pads I can purchase or has anyone added thicker material in front of the drivers for more comfort?

Thanks.

Hi HS,

Sorry to hear about your ear pad fit issue. You may want to consider getting the RS 180's velour ear pads for your RS 170. However, do note that changing the ear pads may result in a change in the sound reproduction.

Thank you for the reply, Rosmadi.  I was surprised that on a relatively nice headphone the lining over the drivers would be so thin when the pad material compresses so easily.  I can try purchasing a new set of pads for a brand new pair of headphones I guess if that' will improve my comfort.  Can you tell me if the material inside the velour pads compresses as easily as the pleather pads on the RS 170's?  Also, where can I purchase replacement pads?

Hi HS,

I've tried using both types of ear pads and in my opinion, the foam material in the velour pads is firmer and do not compress as much as the pleather pads. You may get in touch with any of our service centers/partners to purchase your replacement pads.

Thank you, Rosmadi.  I did find the replacement pad number...it was actually different than listed on the sennheiser manual for the headphones.  Ordered it from Senn but later received a notice it was back ordered so I cancelled that order and placed an order with sonicsense...they had 7 in stock.  Hope to have them soon.

I just bought the Sennheiser RS 180. I'm pretty excited given the good reviews that this product got. Unfortunately Sennheiser discontinued the RS 220 as I originally had my eyes on that headphone. Anyway, the intention is to use this with the TV. However, is it possible to use the RS 180 with the PC/Mac? Any other accessory like amp that I can use to further improve the sound? Would you guys recommend the 180 for use with the PC and listen to music or watch movies?

Thanks!

Hello, I recently purchased RS 170.  One annoying feature that I found is that you have turn on the transmitter on everytime I watch TV. I had RS 120 before and it was always on and did not go in sleep mode.  For seniors, this functionality of having to turn on transmitter each time  is very troublesome, and makes it quite hard.  Is there a way I can disable the sleepmode/ or turning on the transmitter each time?  thanks
