Sennheiser IE900 Review, Measurements, & Harman Target Talk

A bit out of context but I'm visiting Japan in June and would love to compare my beloved IE 900 to other IEMs and also trying headphones I've always been curious about.

I'm particularly interested in hearing the IER-Z1r/M9 in person (have a soft spot for Sony products so I'm curious). Anyone know if Dynamic Audio, Yodobashi Camera or another store near Tokyo has these Sony IEMs available for testing?
didn't pay close enough attention on wired gear, but e-earphone in Akihabara is a great store for trying out gear. They have a great selection too.

I just bought a lightly used pair of these.

Connected to my A&K SP3000 I don’t think I’ve heard worse in my life. Tinny and screechy and generally unpleasant.

I’ve tried foam and silicone tips. Not much difference, although foam slightly better.

Given my reaction seems to differ from most I’ve read, I must be doing something wrong.

Any ideas?
I'm in the same boat. At times I'm blown away by certain songs but other ones I'm

I feel the same way sometimes about my IE 900. At times I feel they might be fake but they pass every visual test I can find. Sometimes I'm quite impressed with certain songs but others just sound like they're played through a tin can. Screechy and sibilant. I've had them for 2 months and usually listen on my fiio M11 but they seem more warm and less sibilant when playing off my phone.

Thanks! I'll give em a visit and hope I don't walk out of there $2000 down.

What's the latest on cables that don't require modification for the Sennheiser mmcx connector?
I recently purchased the Linsoul Tripowin Amber. It's a great cable (soft and pliant) with one major problem. The adapter portion that allows you to connect either the 4.4, 3.5, or 2.5 adapter is extraordinarily weak. It disconnects very easily.

Has anyone tried any other cables recently?

Hey guys, I got these off Amazon from a legit company that sells other Sennheiser products. Premium sounds is the company and they have good reviews.

What you guys think, are these legit of fake?

I bought mine directly from Sennheiser and these look good to me. But it’s hard to tell these days

How much did they charge for them?
If it was under $800 for a new pair, I'd understand your suspicions. :p

They were $1399 CAD definitely not cheap haha
Yeah, based on all of the info, I think you're good.

The pair of knock-offs I've held and listened to did not have the same level of craftsmanship, and the sound was much more inline with the Harman target -- and, just did not sound good to my ears at all.

Looking to purchase a pair of these - I missed the bass and presentation vs. the more traditional IE 600. Question is - is there anything in 2024 worth looking at in that price range that can amplify that 'big room' sound?
