You'll never know for sure unless someone was to cut the wire open to find out. The metal could be different thus accounting for the sound difference. It could be a combination of the material in the housing and in the wire in all honesty. Wonder if Sennheiser could enlighten us all?

Haha I was actually more interested on the physical side of the cable - just wondering if the cable can be interchangeable between both iems.

I hear they may even be cheaper ... I hope my source  is correct, but I am still hoping for a possible cash upgrade
