Thanks, Lorspeaker, Now I'm looking forward to it even more:) Glad I chose the MK IV SE over the MKIII, then. Until new MK IV SE arrives, I'm using Practical Devices XM6 to power HD650s.

i also had it side by side to my LYR then...
and i find the MK4se as energetic..
and presented a broader, more uniform wall of sound.
( MY impression...dun shoot me LYR fans/diehards )

Seller reviews led to HD650 purchase. Several tube amps were considered, too, including Schiit Lyr & Valhalla. In pairing of HD650 with your various amps,, how well did HD650 & MK IV SE perform, specifically with soundstage and clarity?

How do you guys rate the HD650s mids and vocals to the HD600?

The HD650 is warmer more mellow including mids, where the HD600 has a truer response, more closely representing the original recording. I don't own HD600 cans, but understand mids and vocals are a bit brighter than HD650s. Both 650s and 600s are equally good with mids and vocals, but different.

I have the LD 1+ which is the hybrid cheaper model from yours, rolling tubes makes a sig difference too....quite happy with it playing through my HD650s.  I use the long Cardas cable (10') but also have the shorter Charleston midline cable for computer work. Both are good and I love the sound of the Sennies with acoustic jazz, vocals, and your occasional Steely Dan.  Enjoy,  alejandro

Hmmmm...
Hd650 by nature iznt a highclarity/bigsoundstage creature...
like a T1/hd800....
So I shant gush how clear n huge it was when I had it...
But it was enuf to dispatched the other two amps without remorse.

U can build on it with diff tubes n cords till u are contented ..
Tats the FUN!

Yeah, the HD650 doesn't have a huge soundstage. Decent width but not a lot of top to bottom. That said I really enjoy them out of my rev. 1 LD MKIII; with upgraded power tubes to 6N6P-i and drivers to Siemens 6AK5W. The Little Dots are definitely know for having a "tubey" sound though. Which is just fine if you like tube rolling. It can drastically change the sound signature.

So my 12 years old HD6xx love story has come to an end - I'm finally parting ways with my HD650s.... Now on their way to a very nice gentleman from Canada.

It was a great ride. Hope they find a good home up there!

I have bought, sold and sometimes re-bought hp's as much as anyone here I would imagine. But the 650 is something that I can't bring myself to sell. No matter what incredible hp's that I have in my collection ATM, the 650 always has it's place. I just can't imagine a scenario where I'd sell them off, especially have owned them for as long as you.

Who knows, maybe our ways will cross again... I'm just not a collector by nature, tend to keep one thing at a time.

I think he had them before. I perfectly see where some people might actually prefer HD650 to LCD-2s.
