Beautiful! I was secretly hoping you were using the less expensive Mogami wire…spending as much money on the cable as on the headphones (let alone the cost of my entire system) isn’t something I would prefer to do. You think it’s worth it sonically?

Sonically, yes. Any consideration of 'worth' is an individual's assessment of incremental improvement versus incremental cost. 😉

I bought from these guys, very reasonable prices. I went with the original Sennheiser cable re-terminated with 2,5mm balanced, but they have a zillion versions/option

What are some good upgrade cables for the 6xx under $300 these days?
Does the original accessory also count? I have been using this cable on all my Sennheisers for roughly 4 years now and it is still standing strong... If you can tolerate the length, of course. :sunglasses:

Exactly! This was my issue with the original Magni 3. The sound was congested with a hardness to the upper frequencies. It was unbearable.
That's sadly how the HD 650 is on many amps for me, in terms of solid state, the only ss amp I've been able to get the HD 650 to my liking is on the Lake People G111 MKII. Interestingly I have zero upper mid hardness issues on the HD 600 on a variety of gear, I've only really had that hardness problem with the HD 650.

For instance I like the HD 600 a lot on both the Magni Heretic and the G111 MKII. I dislike the HD 650 on the Heretic as that hardness is still there.

My 650 sound great with my Graham Slee Solo amplifier which is British made.

Getting great results with hd600 and for that matter all sennheisers on my Rebel amp. The hd600 has that additional weight that is missing on my other amps. Also the dynamics and sparkle are there in spades.
Hd600 sounded horrible with my singxer. Very thin and lackluster. Rebel amp is very tube like in its sound characteristic.

I can sense that the HD600 and my Violectric V200 will be a good match.

Just got myself some ZMF perforated lambskin pads for my 650. Really liking them so far!
