Sennheiser HD 900... (?) Rumors
Aug 14, 2009 at 3:05 AM Post #16 of 100
Maybe it's time to start an "HD-900 Impressions" thread. Then a "Best way to amp the HD-900" thread. How about "Sources for the HD-900" ? Then of course we need to get started on all the negative threads. Maybe I should be the first to post a "WTB"

So the flagship is now the cheapest model

at $2000 or above, I'd rather buy some electrostatics headphones or speakers than some dynamic headphones.

Save your money; there will be something much better in 50 years. I'm still kicking myself for buying a Walkman instead of waiting for a CD player to be commercially available. And I almost missed out on the minidisc entirely.

There's also talk about a 3D processor and a headphone amp for the HD 800 – just rumors as well (in the same linked thread).

I guess so – moreover two rumors are better than one.
.

Larger than HD800? Are you talking headphone or nearfield speaker?

Just joking.

Something between HD800 and HD650 will be best sound for my liking. I am hoping they are going to make HD7xx

x2. Maybe its time for a foray into the high end closed phone market for Sennheiser.

that would be totally awesome sennheiser made some models that used the hd800 technology but were lower end. this way some people that arent able to afford the hd800 are able to own "part" of the hd800

Yes,release the lowest model in the line first.
The mighty magnesium ones are coming, and I will buy,no problems.
I think most with the plastic one's should try and offload them before this happens.
Because it will.

PS,Will not buy them if Sony bring out a new Qualia.

Bring on the rumor mill....I love it!....it would make sense for Sennheiser to want to capitalize on all the R&D that went into the ring radiator and the hd800....they have the patents and I would thing the cheaper versions would come to market very quickly.

Naturally the rumours start days after I bought my HD600s. xD

It doesn't really make sense that the HD-800 was the lowest in the series, rather than the statement product. This unless the popularity of the HD-800 has been far greater than expected, prompting them to go crazy with anything they held back from the HD-800s to keep the price down. I think it would make more sense that they design replacements for the HD-650 and HD-600 IMO that use some of the HD-800 technology.

What I suspect (and what has been alluded to in other posts) is that the HE90 was not the end of the Sennheiser 'stat reign. Perhaps the "larger model" is refering to a model higher up the range and which is, perhaps, a flagship stat?
