I've always wanted a way to compare the Inner Fidelity graphs to the Headroom graphs, yet for some dumb reason I never thought to Photoshop them together. Thanks for the idea. :)

They actually use different compensation curves so they're not completely comparable.

I think they both use the same dummy head.  Here's the brochure (pdf ) for the one Tyll has at InnerFidelity.  Tyll used the independent of direction HRTF mentioned in the link while Headroom uses diffuse field.

Meh ,
there's not much point in comparing frequencies graph from headroom & innerfidelity, and here's why:

HeadRoom headphone specs come directly from Tyll Hertsens/InnerFidelity (our original HeadRoom Founder/CEO) who contracts with us to provide independent testing. His measurements are always rock solid.

I missed that one.

I meant for comparing different headphones--in the past I've found graphs on Inner Fidelity that Headroom didn't have and vice versa.

I think its the 940 that looks the most different between the 2 sites.  It appears to have more bass and less treble on Headroom vs the Innerfidelity graph

The SRH440, SRH840, and KNS8400 are quite different, mainly in the bass range.

I think the HD700 is going to be the leader in it's price bracket - without doubt....

(Thread momentarily back on track.)

With the SRH1840 no longer a real competitor, I'd agree. Unless Hifiman comes out with something really amazing for the same price, some time in the future. Assuming the HD700 is better than an HE500.

Imo, Hifiman has to focus on QC issues first before trying to compete. Their build quality seems to be unreliable. (Look at the HE-400 thread). Beyer better come up with something against the HD700 because we just love competitions.

Wow I had no idea the concept of build quality issues existing was even possible in the $900+ range. That's kind of pathetic.
