Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

tdockweiler,
I also find the hd600 cables better than the 650 wires. I've never liked the more V-shaped and less coherent sound of that hd650 cable. Even on the hd650, the hd600 cables are more coherent and musical... but the hd600 cables make the hd650 a little too dark which is why I stuck with their own cables when I used them. But yah, For the hd600, I prefer their own stock cables to the hd650 ones. Now, comparing with aftermarket stuff or DIY is a different story.

Interesting. I found the same thing as well. The 600's sounded more balanced with the stock cable vs. 650 cable. I also preferred the 600 stock cable to the one aftermarket cable I tried (some cardas imitation cable from ebay...). The sound ended up being too transparent. That aftermarket cable worked better for the 650s. I think it helped to open up the mids and highs.

<-- Happy HD650 cabling on my HD600.  Then again that's how I bought them (used).

650 cable made my pair of hd580 sounded much clearer and yes, both ends are more extended now coming to thought. It might be due to how bad the condition of my 10years old 580 cable was. I can even see the copper strips inside haha

haha. Well source matters too, coming from my E7/9 and semi-trained ears. And really, my HD580 cable is like torn apart

I went from the 600 cable to the 650 cable for the 1/4" plug and the thicker cord.

I can't say I noticed a difference in sound, but I'll try again.

Has anyone here heard the ESP950 AND the HD600?

I was thinking about buying the HD600 and a Dynalo, but the ESP950 may be better.

Ive heard that the esp950 is great out of an expensive electrostatic amp but I've only heard them out of their own amp and they were good not great. I would still choose the hd600 over them.

I got mine today, it's a later version with "white mesh" inside.  It's the little brother of HD800 in orchestral music, strong bass with forward vocal.  The build quality is good and it's comfortable to wear.
