650 cable made my pair of hd580 sounded much clearer and yes, both ends are more extended now coming to thought. It might be due to how bad the condition of my 10years old 580 cable was. I can even see the copper strips inside haha

I spent some time switching between the two and they sound exactly the same to me (my HD 580's are even older). I thought there was a difference in sound signature at first but over time it became obvious that there was no real difference. Keep in mind that if you compare at different volumes your headphones will sound different because of the way our hearing works.

meh.

Yes, but did you wear a magnet necklace and sit under a pyramid? That makes all the difference...

I just saw this thread and although this is irrelevant regarding the current conversation on the thread, I just wanted to say that I love my HD600s.  They make me happy.  That's all.  You can now return to the classic do-better-cables-change-the-sound-quality debate.

I love the sound of the Denons, personally, but even I acknowledge the great usefulness of the HD 600s. I might pick myself up a pair as soon as I have the money.

Picked up a pair of d2000 haha

Oh yea the Denon's rock in their own world  I own the D7000 and love 'em for techno/trance/movies.  Can't beat the bass on them.

They do make me happy with the stock cables too. The new cables are just a little extra seasoning. The ones I have are pretty cheap (20+ dollars) and make the sound better even at such a low price so theres not much to lose.

I purchased the HD-600s a few weeks ago after extensive research.  I'm currently running them out an E7/E9 combo.  At some point I'll pick up a really nice amp, but they are quite excellent already.  Even straight out of an iPod they still sound fairly nice.  For a more mellow and laid-back presentation of jazz and such, it's difficult to imagine better without spending mega bucks.

After 2 weeks of intens break-in my HD600 are complete. Beautiful sound! Over the years I had lot's of headphones (Beyerdybamic DT990-2005 / 250Ohmi, Akg K701-great sound but shy on the bass- just to mention few) but the HD600 are so balanced.
