Ah lol, well I love Rearview Mirror, his voice is just exceptional throughout the album. Though for Eagles (and maybe Sting), I'm guessing you'd prefer the T1 to the HD600?

Yep - anything with a higher register definitely the T1 - although Don Henley solo could easily go either way.
 
Female vocals though - definitely the T1 - bewitching.
 
I'm starting to rethink the idea of selling the HD600 though.  I know the HD800 is still calling and I won't be satisfied until i try them - but the T1 and HD600 combo is so far covering every genre I listen to.

I think they look much better in the flesh, not ugly at all and I must confess I wasn't worried about aesthetics the least bit when I was looking for a "stay-at-home" cans. Still, the HD650 look classier, but there was too much bass and not enough highs.

  I think the HD600 look a lot better in real life, compared with pretty much any picture I've seen of them online (pro or amateur).
 
Another vote here for the PX100-ii as a cheap portable to complement them!

 
 

  I would say that if you get to listen to music more, and more conveniently/flexibly, then Yes, do the P7 thing.  I do think you will lose something compared to the HD600, but twice the amount of listening to a 9 (out of 10) headphone is much much better than half that amount through a 10 headphone.
 
Having said that, I get a LOT of pleasure from the good but inexpensive headphones that I use for outdoors and commuting.  Perhaps you can consider keeping the HD600's, and spend just $50 -80 for something like a Sennheiser PX100-ii or iGrado or something else in that price range.

Oh well... Saw the PX100-II selling on the italian Amazon for 24,99€ (plus 6€ shipping) and could not resist. It was, acordding to camelcamelcamel the lowest price in the last 12 months.

Nope - all very different in their presentation. Just read the last couple of pages and there are some impressions on the differences. The one thing all 3 have in common as that they were all considered TOTL a few years ago, and at the much lower pricing today are all very much bargains. If you search the forums for comparisons, you'll get plenty of opinions on their strengths and contrasts.

I had all 3 at the same time (a while ago) - it was a great multi-combo!

I am getting the second part of the trifecta Friday, and I after I spend some time with it and get use to the difference in sound, perhaps I will keep an eye out for the AKG K701/q701 down the road so that way I can experience what many people happen to love. I am still nervous about listening to the HD600, and as far as letting you know how the founrier sounds I most definitely. I am surpirsed for it being a sub 200$ hybrid how much detail and clarity it has. Along with the fact that makes the 880s feel as though I am deal with more live presentation than the other amp.

PX100 are supposedly excellent portables and I am curious what you think as you have the 650's and others.

I've had mine for several years, and I really enjoy them when out and about.  They're no HD600's, but for being so lightweight and foldable (like sunglasses), they are surprisingly good, with solid bass and an overall good frequency balance.  They also look cheap so I don't worry about sticky fingers.  There's probably a separate thread about them on Head-Fi.

Yeah welll I am pretty sure I could not get the HD800s they do not go for 400-450$ I bought both my 880 and the HD600s(from a friend is sending them to me I was able to pay him a bit at a time.) for very good prices and even if I added them together with let us say a AKG k612, it would still only a fraction of the what the HD800s cost. Not to mention I do not buy all three headphones at once, because If I did I twas be a bit extreme... If anything I would buy the T1's with the money if I had the amount for all 3headphones right now. To each his own though and if you wanted to drop money to purchased a used HD800 I would get it. I do not have much interest in them though.

The Q701s and K701s are meant to be identical right? My Q701s are noticeably bassier than HD600s. Measurements also back this up, but they also show the Q701s are bassier than K701s.

From my experience, the Q701s are bassier. They also have a wider soundstage which can be a positive or a negative. The HD600s have terrific mids. The treble is better on the HD600s, mainly due to a bump in the 6-8k range on the Q701s that cause noticeable sibilance (though I don't mind it too much, I can imagine it'd be a pain for some people). Overall the HD600s are a bit more neutral, though I quite enjoy the bass and wider soundstage of the Q701s. I prefer the Q701s for electronic music (eg. amon tobin, ryoji ikeda), but HD600s are more versatile overall (excellent for classical, but they will suit most music fine). I also imagine Q701s would be better for videogames. Comfort wise, the HD600s win, I can use them in bed comfortably and they feel barely there, but that's not to say the comfort on the Q701s aren't quite good too. Some people complain about the bumps on the headband of the Q701s but they haven't bothered me yet.
 
The Q701s are easily comparable with the HD600s in terms of sound quality and I have to say they are excellent value for their price (I got mine for $150). I would recommend anybody get a pair of Q701s if they can find them for that price (they retail for $600 in my country).
