Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Just finished my food and finally got around to unpacking my HD 600's: lightweight, very comfortable fit. I plugged them in (EH 6922, standard tubes that come with the T1) and started listening to Pink Floyd - On the run..wow.. There is a bit of heartbeat in that song, I could hear it with a lot of detail, but not too punchy in my ears (I do not like too much punch). When listening to "Money", the sound of the coins is making my ears tickle! I'm loving it!

The soundstage will open-up in a couple of days......

Just wondering, but do will I want to buy a better amp for my HD 600s? I'm currently using a Fiio Andes E07K and they sound fine out of it on +12 gain and volume all the way up on the Andes with "12" volume out of my laptop.

I was thinking maybe lining out of the Andes into an amp.

I also forgot, I don't think I will get along with tube amps because of the heat they produce from I heard. My room is already hot as is, and I don't need a heater.

I was thinking just getting a Fiio E09K for my Andes but I read up briefly of an E09S of some sort.

I also checked out http://www.audiobot9000.com/sennheiser/h/hd-600

I'm thinking maybe <200 USD

But my question is, will I be completely blown away with a "better amp" or amp/dac?

  Oh, sorry. Didn't read carefully.
BTW, Biker, so how about Modi 2 compared to E12? Thanks.

I was hoping for a little bit of a upgrade. It was jaw dropping. listing to it at this moment.  More detail much wider soundstage. The E12 is very good the Schiit stack is great. IMO anyway.

So you mean Magni+Modi 2 have more detail and much wider soundstage?
It's not fair to compare E12 with both of them. You should compare Magni+Modi2 or Magni+e12.

The Magni2 Has more detail and much bigger soundstage then E12 The E12 is known for a smallish soundstage. If I use my X3 as a source with each amp alone. The Magni 2 is much better. But its apples and oranges portable vs desktop.

Salute! to all HD600 owners. After trying out another bunch of headphones I'm just very content with owning this one and the ability to keep coming back to it. Together with its ''big'' brother HD650 the two are a fantastic complementary headphone setup to my ears.

Oh Joy!

I now have a Bottlehead Crack coming a long with my HD600s (still in Hong Kong.. never order from accessoryjack to save $10). I have been putting together an "end-game" setup for my dad and I'm throwing my money in on this setup. This will be an EAD CD-1000 Series III + BH Crack + HD600s. He owns a lot of CDs so I wanted to give him a CD based listening setup versus a desktop setup. If it sounds as good as I'm hoping I may borrow his gear from time to time.

Is the SMSL M8 a tube amp? I have literally no knowledge of Amp/DACs besides the Fiio Andes E07K. I just like one that sounds smooth and wide with a good amount of detail that doesn't take up a lot of space, and doesn't create a lot of or ANY heat.
