Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Honestly even before I upgraded from my Creative X-FI PCIe sound card I could still appreciate the HD 600 over any other headphone I have tried, especially gaming grade stuff. But my comparisons were with music. When gaming I tend to only leave sound FX on and have my high bitrate audio playing in foobar2000. I don't play FPS much where positional audio matters but many have said the HD 600 is as good as anything else for this purpose. The HD 600 is so much more than that though, so maybe it's just not for you if you can't appreciate it. Stick to your gaming grade stuff if you feel its as good or better for your purposes, i'm sure you will have no problem getting top dollar for your mint HD 600.

sorry i dont understand, can u explain better please ? with easyer words. :)

I think @Brooko put it best. It might just not be your thing. It's not too surprising, everyone finds something that isn't quite their cup of tea on Head-Fi. I popped on a buddy's AKG K7XX and it was a total "meh" for me. I'm confident there's a set out there that fits you, this one just doesn't seem to be it. If you like a more bassy signature, I'd point you to try out the Philips Fidelio X1's. I've got a set of those and they sound good.

I'm more than happy with my Fiio X3 E12 setup. I'm going to get the Schitt  Magni/Modi 2 ( Uber ) just to have a desktop setup. I don't expect jaw dropping SQ differences. I am hoping for a little more detail and soundstage. I looked at much more expensive stuff but at the end of the day not worth the little gained. I could have gotten away with $200 but decided on the UBER for the COAX input as I'll be using my X3 as a source.

I have to take this Schiit back. I did get jaw dropping differences. All i can say is its pure audio JOY.

Any comparison with e12?

The combo blows it away. Much more detailed way more open sound stage. It could be mostly the DAC I haven't tried the amp by itself yet. It's pretty much a end game setup for me. At least for a long time. My E12 will still get a lot of use but the Schiit  is the Schiit.

Cool. You can also try DAC with e12 combo to compare both amplifiers.

I have the HD600 & DT880 (600ohm) and both are great headphones. I do not feel the HD600 is lacking in low end at all. The HD600 is refined and pleasing to the ear while I find the DT880 a little hotter all around with more highs and dynamics in my set up. Bass is good on both.

The 600's have bass, it's just not bloated IMO. The x2's have more bass but it's quite sloppy.

Thanks, that is helpfull, and how about of speed? Some say the HD600 is a bit slow.

I really don't notice it because my attention is usually on the the fantastic sound they reproduce. For that price I don't know of a better dynamic driver that can beat it. The hifiman he-400 I own is also fantastic but this is not the proper thread for that. Cheers

Agreed, the 600's have an adequate amount of bass to my ears. X1s are pretty good and hefty in the bass department too, some say more so than the X2s.

I don't notice it. Too busy enjoying the music.

And the Hifimans are planar magnetics, not dynamics.
