I personally find the K712 sounds a bit closer to the HD 600 than the K612. It's largely a balance and timbre/tonality similarity between the HD 600 and K712. The K612 does sound like the HD 600, I find it a bit more akin to a HD 600/DT 880 hybrid with slightly emphasized upper mids.

Specwise, I'd say that the HD650 might have a tad less distortion, which might not be in the human realm of perception. The HD600 has an FR that is more neutral while the HD650's bass is more elevated and its treble is slightly reduced. When it comes to headphones, IMO it is best to give it a listening to.
There was a poll on Head-Fi comparing the two, I believe that the HD600 won, not by a large margin.

I've read this also, very interesting indeed :)

We really only miss some well done technical review of both drivers, that could be enlightening and could help explaining some stuff with solid basis!

This might help (http://www.head-fi.org/t/740942/comparison-review-part-deux-a-tale-of-two-sennheisers-hd600-vs-hd650)

Both were the "newer driver" versions.  Differences aren't huge.

Hi
I've read your comparison and even the others you wrote: HD600vsHD700, T1vsHD800 and T1vsK812.
I loved them, you made a great job and I feel you spotted out the differences in a very objective way that I appreciated a lot thank you for the job done!
The only thing I miss from your HD600/HD650 comparison is some technical measurement because I will use a filter on my setup to compensate the Frequency Response and I'd like to pick the more technical promising between HD600 and HD650 to achieve the best result after filter compensation :)

X3, Vali, HD600, a good rca cable... All of this from £440... A year ago...

I think, if I wanted to get sg significantly better, I should have spent at least double of this... :)

Enjoying this right now: (effects, bass...) :)

Very tempted, adorama has it for $245 free shipping right now.

Man, do not wait on these. No idea why anyone wouldn't pull the trigger immediately.

As much as I like Hendrix, some of his stuff could get rambly or silly.  But right now, listening to "1983...A Merman I should turn to be", thru uberfrost/valhalla2/HD600, I'm hearing it as if for the first time.  I used to write off this track, but now i'm digging it deeply.  Thank you Jimi, Fender, Marshall, Schitt, and Sennheiser.
