She better not ever find out or else the next time you put on the HD600's you're gonna get more voltage between the ears than an electrostatic.

I agree, so I will make my feeble attempt at bringing this conversation back on topic, I decided to order both the HD-600 and HE-4 from Amazon. I will try both out . I will then keep the headphone that I find better suits my needs. I suspect this will still turn out to be a difficult decision.

HE-4 and HD600 are very different beasts.. very complementary in my opinion....

You mean I have to keep BOTH of them?

I'm curious about your impressions. That's two headphones I really appreciate a lot. If HD800 was God , the HE-4 would be the Holy Spirit and HD600 the Son.

The Cmoy amp I have made it myself that too even without a PCB, using cheap components
just soldering the joints and putting em all in an old matchbox, and unbelievable that HD600 sounds well on them!

Each song track now sound different.

HD600's scale well even with lowlife amps
Like my 5$ handmade Cmoy amp

The HD600 doesn't scale well, because it doesn't have to. If your amp can meet it's driving requirements, which are not the demanding, you will be in great shape. It's reasonable sensitive, any good amp that can get the right Vp-p (Peak to Peak Voltage) on a 300 Ohm load as well as deal the HD600's impedance curve will do a superb job. Actually the impedance curve shouldn't be an issue.
