I prefer the HD600’s over the HD650’s as well.Well I have to say I'm extremely impressed with the 600. Wow, what a good headphone. I like them as much as my lcd 4s and empyrean! It's funny because I really did not like the 650. Interesting...

I like them better than anything, including top tier Audeze, Meze, Hifiman, etc. I haven't heard the ZMF line, but in a few months I will get to compare them to the Aeolus.

That's what I have been trying to tell everybody
Go with the original, they're King for decades because they just got everything right despite the price.

I sold my 600's to a friend when the 650's came out, disliked them, and bought the 600's back from my friend. Sold the 650's within two days; I hope the buyer liked them better than I did.

It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong
Well I admit I was wrong about the 800 and 800S. I spent many months trying to convince myself that they were good, but in the end I had to admit the truth that they are not what I'm looking for in a speaker. I like warm, I like lush, I like bass. Not what those headphones offer. It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong
I just don't care about 'accurate' anymore now that I'm in my 40s. I want to hear what I want to hear in my own subjective audio world.

I was just teasing the previous poster. I have read many similar comments though, my attempt at humor was not personal to what he wrote.
I have the 600s and 800s and a small variety of other Sennheisers. True, I enjoy the 600s more than the 800s for most kinds of music. But the 800s are probably still the best at what they do. I am not sorry that I bought a pair but for me they're specialty cans, not something I use every day. I listen mostly to jazz and classic rock. When I listen to orchestral or big bands or want to check something in a recording, out come the 800s and do their jobs
The 700's are the worst of the bunch to my ears. I never could get them to sound good. They lasted less than a week in my house. The 800/800S are good but not good with all kinds of music. I appreciated them for the things they did well. The HD820's had the best sound signature of the all the Sennheiser's I've owned, but good grief I hated the fit.Well I admit I was wrong about the 700 and 800S. Thank you, but not that big. I'd gotten the 650's new (from an authorized dealer) at an excellent price, and I sold them for maybe $30 less than I paid. As for the 600's, I paid my friend back what he'd paid me for them.It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong

It was just an attempt at humor. The story of coming back to the 600s is very common

I love them, but they are not perfect. Headstage is passable - at best. Even with great tubes behind them they don't do anything under 35 Hz. And that's OK, but let's not get them criticized because we are too ga ga over them.
Drop HD6xx is pretty much similar to factory 650, or even better for neutral-to-a-bit-bassy signature?
