I still think copper is king, and I have an OCC upgrade cable coming my way. It did magic for both my M4U 1 and Grado SR60e. Hopefully it won't get lost in transit like my USB cables. 

 
BTW, we are talking about an actual silver cable, and not plated yes?
 

 
Yes, SPC is poopoo for headphones.
 
Just compared the stock copper Senn cable vs my silver cable for the HD598, using frequency sweep.  I was just listening for where a couple peaks and dips are.

dip             2800                 2900
 
It would be interesting to know what the sound volume differences are, but I have no reliable way to measure how loud each peak/dip is.
 
Subbass was definitely a bit higher with silver, but peak/dips with bass is very difficult to identify.  I tend to identify the effect more in the thump of the bass drum when listening to music.

It is. Gets quite loud from my LG G4, you'd be surprised at how efficient these cans are. Just don't expect to take them to the streets.

Well, received my HD-598 today. First impressions, great clarity, bass is very decent and more then enough for my tastes. Now to burn them in properly, will get back with a more ellaborate review

Recently having the chance to try the special edition HD 598 following the prime day deal, I can say that they look and sound great! The shorter mini jack cable is also a very welcome inclusion, especially considering the bulkiness of the included adapter when connecting to a desktop computer or a phone. 
 
Having auditioned the HD 558 and HD 598 a few years back, and being unable to tell the difference, I settled for the lower model.I am now very glad to be able to hear the improvements the higher model brings, although they do leave me wanting more out of my little HD558s... The vocals on it were crisper, cheesy violins sounded gorgeously warmer, and bass reached a bit lower and hit a bit harder.
 
Definitely a pretty nice pair of headphones.

Hi, Anyone here Know if is there a Diference in Sound Quality between the First production of HD 598 (Made in Ireland) And the Actual Sennheiser that are made in China? It is not Something Like the AKG 701? I Ask this because I Think that there is Something strange with some Reviews I Have read .
Also I Would like to Know if someone here has recieved a Defective Pair of "X" (any) Headphone that did not sound like it should sound.
Also I Tried it with the Microstreamer, because Some people said that it was a Good pair, But I Found an ultra "veiled" sound that sounded like if I would can get that sound from cheap headphones, I have sent my HD 598 for a replacement, Because I Thought that they were damaged or defective, Is very extrange that a lot of people that bought the first production of the HD 598 Said that they are very good, But with the New made in china hd 598 some people said that it is only  average headphones
Would be Awesome if someone with the OLD HD 598 would make a comparasion With the new hd 598, My english is not perfect But I Think that is is Understandable =).

I don't believe the HD598 have ever been produced in Ireland.  Every batch I have seen (including the early ones) were made in China.  A few of the higher-tier models are/were made in Ireland.
 
I've had two pairs of 598s in the family, both sounding fantastic (and identical).  What exactly did you feel was damaged/defective with your pair?  And let us know how your replacement pair turn out.

Maybe in USA The Ivory HD 598 Is Cheap, But in my Country it is 2X( Or more) Expensive, I Bought the Ivory because I Loved the Color theme, I Think that it is beautiful, I Really Love it, The headphones in real life are Beautiful to me eyes, (The SE Was more Cheap) In total I paid for the 598 and the HRT Microstreamer Something near to 500 dollars.
The first time I Tried the Combo I Was amazed, it Was like Magic, Like if the Music had life, But I Had a problem With the Microstreamer: The World of Pops and Static Explosions, Therefore I could not concentrate on enjoying my music.
 
Then I Tried the Jriver Media Center with 25 Milisecond of Buffer, The problem seemed to be solved, But then, when The Microstreamer became hot, suddenly when I tried an album, It started to really distort the Music, The voices sounded like if were Slow motion, Then I Disconnected the MS as quickly as I could, I don't remember if that Night I Used again the HD 598 With the MS, but I remember that I Tried again the MS With the Panasonic RPHX250MV https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E4LGVYA/ref=twister_B00E88Q5R2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 (Price of 24 dollar) And the Microstreamer Worked again.
 
The problem Was at the next Day: I noticed a More thin Sounding and something like a  "cut sound" In the hd 598, Something was disquieting me, Then I Thought that maybe the Microstreamer damaged the HD 598 in some way, I'm not 100% sure if it was only My Mind or something in my Ears, But for me it really was a diferent sound.
 
To be more exact,  a day before The MS Made the crazy distortion,  I Tried  the HD 598 With a 3DS, I thought That I Was going to get a Bad sound, But I Was wrong, I tried it With Pokémon X, And it  Sounded Awesome, I Was Smiling with the Soundstage. 
 
But the day after the Distortion of the MS, I Tried again the 3DS with the hd 598,but  Something was disquieting me, Like if there was something wrong, Then I Started to doubt if there was something Wrong.
 
But To be honest, after the first Day I Got the Combo, I Was doubting if it was worth the Money, Because It was something more "felt" that Something I Could  really hear with my ears,  It only was if like the Music Had more life with the dac and the headphones, It was not like If I Was hearing Extremely Big differences in the Sound, Only it Sounded more "Organic", More "Green" But maybe that was only my Mind. 
 
But, Again The perfomance of the Recording of the Link, Made my doubt if there was something Wrong in the Chain, It Sounded very "Cheap" with the Microstreamer,I Would  have a lot of things to say about the MS, but maybe this is not the Good place to write them( Maybe I Should go to MS Thread (?) )
 
Would be vey good If you or someone can Try the recording and give me your impressions =), (like If it is well recorded and that).
 
Also I Read a guy in this thread That was complaining about "Grain" With the hd 598, especially in the Vocals, And was this Song : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKsNE8QJE3g, My HD 598 Also had Grain in the Vocals, It don't sounded clean, Buy maybe it is only the recording.
 
Also instead of Clean Sound, Compared to my Panasonic(Yes, the ones that I Have linked), The HD 598 Sounded "Veiled"/Masked in some instrument and voices, I Don't know how to exactly Describe it, Maybe I Needed more time to get used to the HD 598 Sound and see(hear) the Difference because I Was used to "Cheap Sound" (I Have had the panasonic headphones for about 2+ years) Or the Recordings that I Tried were bad recorded.
 
The Seller who sold me the headphones is the same that sold me the Microstreamer, The headphones were New and the Microstreamer only was used to power some speakers in a shop.
