SennGrado Thread

Nice, Do these PX100's sound the same as your other, what were they. PX95?  Do you think they are the same driver?

Nice catch...yes, the others were PX95. These sound better, I feel the PX95 is a different driver (possibly a victim of sorting per lostMIDrange's thoughts?).

How much time are they going to consume sorting drivers for a forty dollar headphone?

I picked up a set of PX100-II headphones and was wondering if anyone who made a Senngrado headphone have an extra set of the pads that came with the PX100s?

Sorry but I use the pads for damping otherwise I'd send you some.

Thanks. Still waiting, I know there are really cheap replacements but the original Sennheiser has slightly better sound properties. Anyone?

My son and I built 2 sets of Senngrados with Beautiful wood cups built by 7keys. My sons are the Ebony set with the Sony ZX-310 headband and Canare Japan 405 cable with the S cush. Mine are the Walnut set with a cheap Wesc headband I picked up for $20 and Canare 405 wiring. at 7keys suggestion I used the foams from the Senheiser PX100II in front of the rear screens and also used dyna-mat on the rear of the drivers. I was using the L cush but found the upper notes were not very well defined so I threw on my G cushions and Wow! The sound really opened up and the highs came back to life. They have a nice solid bass. For some music I have to turn off my e12a bass boast as I fear my ear drums might vibrate out of my head

Sorry the pictures are out of order. Look around for your PX100II drivers as they range from $27-$110. We lucked out and found 2 sets in the discount bin at Staples for $27 ea. So for around $150 a set my son and I have 2 very nice original headphones. Mine are super light and with the G cushions on they are so comfortable! I haven't tried mine with the S cushions yet but If its a huge difference I'll post it. Thanks again 7keys for all your help and the fantastic job you did on our cups.

* So I tried the "S" cushions on my Senngrado's and they also sound really good and are very comfortable. The "L" cushions rob them of the highs which is probably why I like them best on my Grado 325i's. So for Senngrado I would recommend the "G" or "S" Cushions.

Yes I glued them in. They drivers seemed ready to pop out so I thought a tiny bit of Elmers pro bond would hold them in and bond them to the cup to stop any resonances.

The Sony headband is very nice and light. I wish the part that attached to the cup wrapped around a bit more as the cup tends to pivot and knock its foam pad off if you aren't careful. We drilled holes in the ends of the plastic and made our own pins out of coat hanger.

I want a Philips Fixie or flexie headband if I can find one for cheap enough. It looks like it would fit the wood cups perfectly.

Hopefully this isn't seen as thread-crapping...I just knew both you guys and the folks on the Pono thread would like a look at them...

Nice! I want one. But they don't sell pono in Canada and Fry's won't let me use a promo code so I can buy one on sale. They seem to have the Pono on sale every month or so for $250.

Bruce, where do you buy the Sony headband?

Is Pono.......Porn for Audiophiles?

That's a shame (Pono availability in Canada). I have seen a post by Neil on the Pono Community stating they are pushing to get a store opened up there.

The headband, you have to buy the whole can to get. Usually I find them for cheap on Amazon. The trick is, it's slightly smaller than the Grado gimbal, so your cup has to be smaller as well. Makes it a little trickier to turn, but not terrible.
