For under $50 the JVC HAS500 or HAS400 headphones are very good.I like the HAS400 very much. You can get the HAS400 in the US for under $25, but the HAS500 needs to be ordered from Japan for around $50 with shipping.

Some good cheap IEMs I like are the Panasonic RPHJE450(around $25), the Sony MDR-EX210B($15 on Amazon!) and the JVC HAFX40(around $18 on Amazon). The Sony MDR-EX210B at around $15 seems like the best value. This has 13.5mm drivers and delivers deep bass. This used to be around $40. It delivers strong bass that is not exaggerated, but if you want some bass exaggeration(extra bass) then get the Sony MDR-XB60EX at $35 on Amazon. I like the EX210B very much, but don't have the XB60EX yet(but read a number of reviews of it and plan to buy it). The Panasonic RPHJE450 is my most frequently used IEM as it has a very ergonomic shaped and is very comfortable. It is ported though, so it doesn't isolate so well. It has 12.5mm drivers and delivers nice bass impact as well as decent detail(but not as much detail as the JVC HAFX40).

I have the jds c5 which is a very high quality amp. It doesn't improve the quality much, if at all of the clip. You get a little more volume, but the clip is noisier at that volume anyway and the noise is amplified too.

I recommend not amping it unless you had some really needy headphones...

Of the Clip Plus, Clip Zip and Fuze Plus the Clip Zip is my absolute favourite.
The Rockbox database isn't completely intuitive but when it works it works great. I use the Zip with my Yuin PK2 and have tinkered with the settings a little (like crossfeed and adding +2 bass to compensate for earbuds).
I'm so happy with it I just ordered a second one. Black again ofcourse, once black never back I heard in a porn movie
With 8GB + a 32GB card in each I can have different collections of music on each.
EUR 34 for a refurbished one of 8GB with free shipping and an extra 8BG card at Itstor (eBay).

Just wish I didn't spend all that money on all these other players.

As long as Rockbox is installed, the Clip+ should for the most part be just as enjoyable as the Clip Zip, you just have a smaller screen to deal with. I briefly had both models, but as soon as Rockbox was ready for the Zip I sold my Clip+ because it was two years old and had lost some battery life.

The Fuze+, that is a different story.....it sucks horribly in stock form (like "I want to smash it with a hammer" ) and installing Rockbox makes it easier to deal with, but I would still not want it as an only player. It's worth keeping around as a backup, I guess, or you can gift it to someone...lol.

I hate it that the Fuze Plus can't read faster cards than 4 speed. At least not mine.
As soon as Rockbox is stable, and that shouldn't take long, I'll rockbox it too.

None of the Sansas deal with cards faster than class 4 well, unless you Rockbox them. Don't even worry about waiting for it to be "stable". I had it on a Fuze+ months and months ago and it worked fine, and it is only getting better. I had so many players though, that the Fuze+ was never getting used, so I added it as a bonus to a trade package I made with a friend.

Tried those crossfeed settings but I'm not sure I'm happy with them. I had it on "Simple (Meier)".

One wish for Rockbox would be (except for a "Play all randomly" database option) a setting to move sound to the front like SRSWOW tries to do (never heard it).
I have enough voices inside my head as it is

Simple (Meier) is where I keep mine.

And you can play all the tracks on there in shuffle mode. First go into the playback settings, and enable shuffle......then go to database --> Artists --> All tracks --> and choose a track to start with.  It will then shuffle through everything in the database.

It depends what sound you like...Simple to too close...for me.....all the sound in straight down the middle....no sound stage..
I like the cymbal splashes to be wide...

That's not what crossfeed is designed for. Crossfeed is designed to cut down on the extreme left-to-right panning of older recordings and make them easier to tolerate with headphones....and simulate the sound you get from speakers where each ear can hear the other channel with a slight delay.

What you are looking for is the "Stereo Width" menu in sound settings.

That's weird? I found your settings less wide.... I'll recheck.
Just listening to "I know that feeling" from the Consat Angels.... Yammie!
