S:flo2 impressions thread

got mine in today finally!

initial impressions...it beats my Rockboxed Fuze/E5 setup pretty easily. the S:Flo2 just has sound that makes me think of clean pure energy compared to my old setup, everything is more defined with almost non-existent noise outside of whats already recorded in any given track. in comparison of just noise, the Fuze/E5 sounds like a tape player next to this.

i have the EQ at all flat right now. the bass is much cleaner and maybe punchier but does not hit as hard as the old setup, the mids and treble are def cleaner but the upper highs are maybe, and i mean MAYBE recessed a little compared to the Fuze/E5...ill need to A/B them to try and verify that impression.

im using DBA-02, Miles Davis and a little bit of RE0 for my listening by the way...

EDIT: my order was for the S:Flo2, protective case, SD card and Brainwavz M3 combo and i received everything but the M3's. i put in a Support Ticket letting them know about it so ill update you guys if they give me any hassle about it.

Not that surprising......the E5 is nothing to write home about.

I am glad to hear that as it is a very fine product. It works very well with the s:flo2 and this combination is a great portable movie player that is aided by the crossfeed on the Arrow.

Not anymore.  You can get an Arrow pretty quick now as Robert fixed the problem pretty much.  MP4nation certainly has not and seems to be the same fiasco I dealt with more than half a year ago.

But yes, wrong thread for this stuff.

Almost a year later, I'm still using mine with my ES7's and RX700's, still loving it !

Second to that. Use it every day in pretty nasty work conditions. The back is all dented to hell but it works flawlessly still. Wouldn't trade it for a 9000000 gig Ipod!

Just want to point out that the Nationite S:Flo2 16GB is now available within USA from Amazon.com, i will refraining from directly linking, but a quick search on Amazon will yield the S:Flo2. We have more S:Flo2 heading to the US warehouse. We also have some heading to Amazon.co.uk warehouse in the UK for you brits. People that reside in the Euro zone can also purchase from Amazon.co.uk to get their S:Flo2 sent from the UK.

I purchased the S:Flo2 less than a week ago and sent it back due to software limitations.  The hardware is excellent, no question about it unfortunately the software/firmware limitation is that the resolution of WAV, FLAC files must not exceed 16-bits and 48-KHz sampling rate.  Tried loading 24-bit files without any success.  I am both a MAC and PC user while my entire music library resides on the Mac hence loading music into the S:Flo2 can be rather tricky.  The reason is that randomly if my some mystery after linking the unit directly to my USB port, it would load for about a minute or five and suddenly eject itself.  On my PC this doesn't happen, however it is a pain to transfer my library over from the Mac to the PC just for this case.

Aside from these few simple shortcomings, I actually love the way the S:Flo2 makes my audio shine.  I am waiting for the Little Dot DP_I to be released then I will see what will happen then.

Prime costs $80 a year but you get free 2 day shipping with $3.99 to upgrade to one day shipping and their netflix-like video on demand streaming, which isn't as large or hi-def as Netflix for now. Just be careful because I've spent so much on Amazon thanks to the free one-year of Prime for anyone with an .edu email account. It just gets you to buy so much from them because it is so convenient. Also, you don't get their VOD streaming for free with the .edu email deal. You have to be a paying member to have that benefit.

I also ordered a s:flo2 on Tuesday from Amazon, which arrived today thanks to the one-day shipping. Amazon's stock comes with 2.3 firmware installed, at least mine did. Thank god for that because I don't know of anyone using anything but Ubuntu and Windows 7 64-bit. I'm still charging and syncing but can't wait to test it out with the Westone 4s that arrived a couple days ago.

Impressions will arrive soon, I hope. I might be enjoying this combo too much to come back to head-fi, like when I got my DT880s awhile back.

To be fair to Nationite/Teclast, I don't believe they've claimed anywhere that the S:Flo2 would play 24bit files. Why did you think it would? It's certainly not common amongst portable DAPs. Also, when I had one, I didn't have a problem with the unit being spontaneously ejected from a Mac.

This is why I couldn't work in Tech support for more than 2 weeks.  Trying to deal w/ peoples Porno, freeware and viruses made me want to chuck my head through the monitor.  I adopt a survival of the fittest attitude w/ technology now.

same thing here. im not very happy that i needed to start a support ticket just to let them know that i didnt get my M3's. why didnt they notify me just like when they did when they blamed Hong Kong Post for all of the shipping problems?

apparently, the M3's arent expected until March 31st. really? the last day in March? it sounds fishy just like anything else these guys say.
