You might want to wait on the RE-ZERO if you are willing to.

Or buy both.

Why? lol

Also, what amp sports a TRRS jack? Where can one get an in-line TRRS jack in order to build an adapter for the Predator or whatever iBasso comes up with as far as portable balanced amps?
Not sure if the RE-ZERO's balanced cabling will be worth it. Still, I'd love an RE0 with RE252 bass. I imagine this might more or less be it.

Apparently the  one which ships once the ZERO is on sale will be an inline one.

That looks neato, but is bulky.

The one that will ship looks more "user-friendly" =P

I just got a pair of Head-Direct REO for portable use, because I'm planning to modify my JH13pro for the JH-3A DSP/DAC/AMP.

I'm just floored by how close these are to the JH13pro.  Yes, the JH13pro have a warmer sound signature, more bass but over all, it comes pretty darn close and only for $79 dollars compared to $999.  I just can't believe believe my ears. How is this possible. How can an IEM less than $100 come so close to the detail of the JH13pro.   Now, the comparisons are done with both being amped.  When both pairs unamped, the difference in both pairs are more noticeable.

But when amped, they are really that close.

Does anyone else have both?  It really makes me question my JH13pro.  The JH13pro with the JH-3A maybe a different question but when both amped, again, I'm amazed at the closeness.

That's how resolving they are =]
But how does the treble, midrange, and bass compare to JH13? Is it really close?

Treble and midrange are pretty close.  Where it loses out is in the bass.  Of course especially when you to music that presents lots of bass.
But for rock, jazz and classical.  It's pretty right up there.  I would say, sometimes, the details stand out even more on the REO.
