Have to admit, they are sexier than the original red cups. But i dont think the cups justify for the almost $100 increase.
Just to let some know, i ordered from idews and had some very good feedback. Hopefully they ship tomorrow, or monday. It looks like its not on the website anymore, but a good alternative if you dont want to order from russia.

Just wanted to let people know if they dont want to order from gd

Have an order myself waiting via Paypal from IDews. The only thing that worried me a little was my contact over at IDews stated "The Finishing is not on par with other headphones at US$120 price range(Pathetic sponge curring, rusted metal plates, etc)

I knew about the sponge cutting from this forum but this is the first i have heard about "rust" and "rusted" metal plates...has anyone that received a pair ever encountered rust with thier unit?  Makes it sounds like they are asembled in a garage from spare parts and then left outside for a few weeks.  lol!

I have an order invoice waiting for my payment so please help alleviate some of my concerns after this last email.  He did stated they are the newer, darker version with a straight cable.  Anyone that received these, any problems like he mentioned and did it come with the 1/4 adapter and extension cable?

Thanks everyone!

(Man, REALLY want the Japanese edition but not willing to pay that much extra)

I'm pretty sure the plates are brass or plated aluminum (whatever they are isn't magnetic), so they can't rust.  However, mine has what looks like ink smudges on it from the brown ink they used to color the engravings (I can see parts of fingerprints).  I haven't found a way to clean it off yet.  Water didn't do squat, and supposedly alcohol just makes it worse.

I have the straight cable version, and it came with a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter but no extension.  However, I purchased from Frogbeats and they told me that they added the adapter; it didn't come from Fischer with one.  You can get both for just a few dollars online though; try Monoprice or Amazon.  Or you can do what I did and make an extension yourself :)

Finally got a Fiio E10 and dig it so far with these headphones for the poster that was asking a page or so back. Not sure if they are being driven to their fullest potential, but they do sound nice. From the descriptions I thought there would be a tad more bass, but don't get me wrong it is definitely there, especially with the E10's bass boost on. Oh, and they bass from these phones gets loooow. I really enjoy listening to all types of music with them.

I still dont get it. The bass is not really that hard hitting, even when compared to budget headphones like the jvc rx900. The review seems to be misleading, or maybe I got a lemon.

Most budget headphones tend to over-emphasize the bass to the point that it bleeds into the rest of the sound signature.  This is for two reasons: 1.  Most modern music is very bass-heavy and 2. Heavy bass can cover up flaws in the other areas of the sound signature.  The FA-011s have strong (but not overpowering) bass that doesn't bleed into the rest of the sound signature and can extend very deep, which is something most budget headphones don't do.  If you're just looking for MOAR BASS!!!!, you might be better served by the Sony XB500 - loads of bass (most people agree that it has the most bass out of any headphone they've ever heard) and the rest of the range responds well to equalization.

Yeah I personally do not like when people write in such a way that it makes you think said headphones have very impactful and powerful bass, when in reality any closed headphone with a neutral bass or an entry headphone with over-emphasized bass blows them out of the water.  Most reviews tend to be esoteric in that way assuming you already know this to be true.

Remember that descriptions of sound are rather subjective.  In my case, I had Sennheiser CX500s, GR07s, and HD555s before the FA-011s.  The CX500s have more bass, but it's muddy and distorted, so the Fischer bass has much more impact and apparent power because it can be distinguished from the rest of the range more easily.  The other two are bass-light, so the Fischers sound very bassy in comparison.  I can also say that they have more bass than my closed Koss Pro DJ100s, which I got later.

This is why it's usually recommended that you try some headphones out before buying - even if they aren't what you want, chances are someone else who owns what you want has heard the ones you can listen to in Best Buy or Guitar Center, or whatever audio shop you have nearby, and can compare them.

There is sibilance as well, when driven off the udac. The udac is known to be a bit bright, but on some tracks, the sibilance is unbearable.  What I do love on these headphones is the soundstage, instrument separation and the mid bass.
