If you buy maggies and want to drive them properly think 100W or more and the rice for 100W tube amps can range from 4K and up so the investment is substantial. I ran Maggies MMG with a 100W Outlaw solid state amp and a Outlaw sub. I couldnt swing the price for high powered tube amps. if I would be looking at thew 1.7 I would be looking for solid state amps  to drive them

Wise.  I had 3.6 and biamped them with 600 WPC, that is, 300 for each ribbon and 300 for each planar part.  That worked.  Two subs would be better than one.  If you under power the true ribbon, you will clip the amps waveform and send the ribbon destroying distortion to it.  I know.  I had Atma-Sphere tube amps at 110WPC.  Didn't work with those power hungry beasts.  Now, back to headphones.

I had a request to put more Taboo pics in the other thread. They are the ones from the website.

Ho my, I was just pulling your beard there!

I totally agree with you (and I’d go so far as having 2 subs with a maggie setup)... I was just saying « your point being? » meaning more « Since when is buying an amp any kind of problem here on Head-Fi? ».

So I was very tongue-in-cheek with my comment, hence the « ;¬) »

Thread derail = finished!

The Taboo MkIII has XLR outputs, but the amp is not a fully balanced amp correct?
