That's a really pretty setup you've got going on.

I completely agree with your cable assessments, as the silver/gold cable affects the ASG-2 in the same fashion. It "improves" it technically, but it loses part of what makes the ASG-2 appealing. I imagine 334 owners would feel the same way about a similar change.

Btw, here's how most of my nights have been spent after work...

I'm looking forward to hearing it myself. The way I've heard it described lines up with how I'd describe the ASG-2.

I got the impression (from all the SD3 reviews etc) that the bass of the SD3 is more forward and kind of continously present compared to the ASG-2.
To me it sounds like the bass of the ASG-2 is there when the music is calling for it and not continously rumbling around.

But thats only what I read from all the impressions.

Let's see about that :3

And I get the impression that the SD3's might go deeper than the ASG-2, though no one's heard both yet. Though, I know that the closed port ASG-2 has slightly less bass than the TG334, so that may be a clue.

Hopefully the SD3 will be here sometime next week.

Being that I'm a bit of a detail & resolution junkie.. you'd think I'd take the silver cable all day, everyday.. right?  Well, not quite.  I feel the stock cable (which I'm pretty sure is copper) has a certain synergy with the AS-2's signature.  The AS-2's smooth, slightly warm, slightly dry midrange seems to get a very welcome dash of liquidity with the stock cable.  I don't get the pinpoint imaging, (comparatively more accurate) tonal quality, clarity, and all the other technicalities that the silver cable offers.. but I've come to realize I prefer sonic synergy over technical purity with the AS-2.  I don't consider the AS-2 a detail/resolution "beast".. at least in the way many do with the HD800 or JH13.  The AS-2 certainly doesn't disappoint on these counts, but I don't consider detail retrieval and/or resolution ability as the AS-2's main forte (or purpose).

Being stuck (hopefully forever lol) in the iem lower echelons, I am curious about your impressions of the H-200's detail and resolution relative to something such as the AS-2...

FedEx guy shows up with a welcome surprise this morning.. my JH13Pro Freqphase.  I'll have initial impressions on them up in the appropriate thread.. very very early thoughts in comparison to the AS-2?  The JH13 doesn't wipe the floor with it.. buuuttt..

^^^ LMAOOOO ^^^

I'll tell you this, so far.. I find the AS-2 and JH13Pro (sonically) similar (in some ways).. but complementary, as well.  It's early (honeymoon phase, right?).. but the JH13 is everything I hoped it would be.. and the hype around it feels entirely justified.

Hmm. I look forward to your comparisons as you get more acquainted with the JH13.

Btw, I think you missed Wayne's question:

Actually, I was hoping that he did miss it... I don't think that I want to know! I'm very happy with the detail and resolution of the H-200's, so in this case, ignorance is definitely bliss. So flysweep, feel free to continue missing that question :)

I know Dale thought the T-Peos that he demoed was a little bright in the treble, I'm unsure if he heard the H-100 or H-200.  The H-200 were just released when I talked to him and demoed everything.  I'll admit that in contrast to the ASG-2 (from memory) the T-Peos was brighter, but that was mainly due to the smooth nature of the ASG-2.  From memory, the H-200 has a bit more of an aggressive attack when it comes to detailing and clarity while the ASG-2 was trying to be more of the effortless, non-fatiguing type.  They both did detail fine, but it depends on how you prefer the presentation.  Some people will want the aggressive, Ety-like detailing while others want something smoother.  Keep in mind, this is from memory

*cough* selling your CKS1000 and H200 will get you most of the way there *cough*

*achoo!* You only have one set of ears *cough-sneeze*

*cough* Remember I had the H-200 for a couple of weeks before sending it to you, and the ASG-2 is a league above it *COUGHCOUGHCOUGH*

Oh my, what a sudden onset of keyboard flu. I was just about to say that you should stick with the H-200 and enjoy it.

Yup, you are one sick and nasty puppy lol! Even though I only have 1 set of ears, I do enjoy their different signatures (keeps me from getting bored lol) and I tend to use my 1K's off of my laptop rig and the H-200's when out and about.

Besides, how much are the ASG-2's? I think that if I sold the H-200/1K's, it would only add up to about half the price of the ASG-2's. But would I then just want, nay need, to go for something yet more expensive like the sd3's etc. I know how this works!

Hmm, also I couldn't really get rid of the H-200's because I love using them when out and about. I don't think that I would want to use something like the ASG-2's when out and about.

Now THAT is excellent advice! Thanks - I'm glad that you re feeling better!

It's "only" $550 for the non-stealth version!

The ASG-2 is as utilitarian as they come. I sleep in it, I walk from office to office around campus with it (I fix computers for faculty members), I brush my teeth while wearing it (with the cable going down my back), etc.

It fits like a glove, and the cable is fantastically usable. It occupies the "road warrior" position my GR07s used to own.

Eke, for the benefit of yours find one DAP and one IEM that will suit your musical tastes. This will help you rediscover music instead of spending precious time on looking for best of best which will never be found ;-)

But i will gladly read your review of SD3 for sure.

Now back to music listen, how about BB King? The Thrill is Gone .... :-D

You're right, they are *cough* cheap *cough*! (damned, that flu is contagious!). And it's good to know that they are good road warriors. Thanks.
