REVIEW: 5 sub-$150 sealed headphone compared

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks.

As I'm having horrible fit and comfort issues with my new SE530s, I think I will return them and go for the HD25s + 650 cable for my commuting needs. Sick to death of all the screwing around needed to get a good seal on IEMs.

okay anyone who is still using this thread.... i have been wondering for some time now. if the d1000's are not good at isolation why do they not just simply make them open phones? it would probably help the mids out considerably. allso if you were to compare the two, both being non isolating, which would be better, these or the senn 555?

Could you explain this? I wear glasses also...

SkyLab ...

Thanks for the review. I was just pointed to this thread when starting another "which one should I buy" thread for the RP-21, D1000, ES7. It's hard to settle on just one . . .

Is an amp required for the D1000s? Or do they perform decently enough unamped?

I never used them with an amp and they sounded splendid. They are very easy to drive too.

However, HD25s with HD650's cable is the right choice if you don't want to waste money on the after market cable. It's still the big improvement on HD25.

On that point - how does the HD600 cable compare with the HD650 when connected to the HD25's?

headroom says the isolation on the hd-25s is -18. i'm going to assume thats -18 dB, which i guess is pretty close to IEMs

where can the hd-25's be had for under $150? also i think the recabling really had a large effect on the SQ rankings. how much cost would a decent recabling add?

Hmmm ... none of that makes me want to upgrade my 280s. Good!

The SQ of the HD25-1 is still pretty damn good even with the stock cable. I have kept the stock cable on mine for durability reasons. They say never wind a headphone cable around the headphone. Well I do that with my HD25s. The most robust full size can I have.

cheers

Link? I was under the impression Sennheiser didn't sell their OFC HD-25 cable in the US...
