Out of curiosity... it looks like you've balanced a lot of your headphones at some point. Have you ever considered (or heard) a balanced pair of Sony R10s? Do you think they'd benefit from balancing?

Actually,  I have a bass heavy R10 that is balanced,  what I notice is that it brightens slightly in balanced mode.  I would not suggest recabling the R10, but rather if balanced is an option you want to consider, have the end plug re-terminated.  But i think that the difference in sound quality may be not as important as leaving that particular collector's item in as close to stock condition as possible.

It actually can be stressful tho. I keep the whole unit in my room.  I built this custom shelf, looks real nice, but I keep the AC on energy saver all the time to keep the room climate controlled.  All my CDs are next to it.  I don't let my girlfriend bring any food or drink in there LOL.
