Someone posted a while back that they didn't understand/like portraiture. I thought about it for a while, and I realized that I like shooting people because it's just more fun. You can laugh and talk with your subjects, and you can tell them what to do and how to move. If I'm shooting a landscape, I can't exactly tell a cloud to move into a more photogenic position.
....And you can't go out for drink with trees after the shoot.
Anyway, I got some practice in with strobes yesterday. I called up a friend who's a dancer, and I took out my brolly box and lightstand.
Again, manual focusing at f/1.8 is a PITA. My keeper/throwaway ratio has gone up, thanks to the EE-S focusing screen, but I'll have to get a viewfinder magnifier for my 5D.
